Edit as I didn't realize it registered as one star. Meant to give two.

I ordered a few items, and explained that I cannot handle spicy. The item I had mentioned that on was mild, but every other item was incredibly spicy. I had to give it a couple minutes between each bite until it just became too much and couldn't eat it.

I ordered... Ginger beef I think? And it didn't come with any rice, noodles, etc. Just a tub of beef. The menu doesn't state whether it does or not in fairness, but it's the first Indian/Chinese restaurant I've ordered something that comes with none of that. Especially when you consider it's more expensive than most places for ginger beef with noodles or rice. I wish it mentioned that it was just a tub of meat as i would've ordered something with it.

However, I will say their rolls were amazing, and super cheap too. Definitely get those if you order from them.

All and all, I think rice or noodles is cheap enough to throw into a dish. I've never met someone who wants just a tub of meat...

Thay are open late witch is nice and there delivery is fast. There best thing on the menu is the deep fried shrimp dumplings but sadly you only get 4 for six bucks. I also ordered the house special chow mein with black bean sauce it was a ball of sticky noodles that tasted like thay just poured soy sauce all over it. The pork chicken and shrimp that was in it was absolutely delicious but sadly you only get two three pieces of each. If you are drunk or stoned and want Chinese food in the middle of the night and don't care how bad the food is then this is the place is for you. After all that thay didn't even give me a fortune cookie. I usually order from Delight chinese there food is so good and is so cheap but thay don't always close at the same time so I thought I would try some place new and was varey varey...

This is NOT Hakka food. It’s pretty much Chinese food with black pepper. We ordered chilli chicken(dry), chicken fried rice, and sczhuean Fish. The taste is watered down. So many issues: 1. They don’t seem to even use fresh green chillies (a major ingredient in real Hakka Chilli chicken). 2. The chilli chicken tastes like black pepper chicken. 3. The Szcheuan sauce was a nice deep red colour but there was next to NO FLAVOUR. I’m wondering if they’re using store bought sauces. 4. Also, their portions are terrible. Charge a bit ($2/3) more and double your portions! 5. They use basmati rice. For Hakka food, including steamed rice and fried rice, you should use short grain white rice, not basmati. It doesn’t have the same “chewiness”/texture.

I read many good reviews about Hakka Express online and surely it did not disappoint! The beef manchow soup was rich and comforting with deep umami flavours seeping through. I could taste the sweet undertones of assorted veggies too. The soup also came with cripsy noodles and the spiciness level can be adjusted to one’s preferences. The friendly owner was patient in explaining the dishes and she so kindly packed me an extra portion because they prepared in large quantities. I couldn’t remember the exact price but it was def less than 15cad. It was a satisfying and value-for-money meal ! Oh and Hakka Express serves halal food. They have a wide selection of vegetarian options too.
