I’ve never had such horrible customer service from a restaurant until dealing with the man who picked up the phone at Golden Dragon restaurant tonight. My mother called to order some food, but from the conversation I overheard, they were clearly having trouble hearing each other. After the call she mentioned the total price seemed a lot less, so I decided to call back on my phone to confirm they had the order right. I heard the man fine, and told him I was calling to confirm the order on (x)Road because the sound on the other phone wasn’t coming through clear. I also said the total seemed less than she thought. I told him the 4 THINGS we ordered: Chicken balls, sesame chicken, chicken fried rice and lo mein. He went over these items, but stated “Oh, you ordered chicken balls? Ok if anything’s wrong I’ll call you back.” Then hangs up. … So, 15 mins later the driver shows up… without the chicken balls. I called back the restaurant, same man picks up. I explain “we just received our order and there’s no chicken balls.” For some reason, he asks me to read the receipt to him, which we both know is incorrect because he did not ADD this to the order, but I did what he asked and then he tells me because we didn’t PAY for the chicken balls “THERES NOTHING I CAN DO.” And then HANGS UP ON ME! Hangs up on a customer! I was so disgusted. I wasn’t yelling or cursing at him, or disrespecting. I called to confirm the order. I was shocked that we were simply calling to buy dinner from him he basically told us to F off. This place has definitely lost us as customers and we will be sure to share this treatment with everyone we know. [Sorry for the long review! Just wanted to give a clear...
Read moreWe went out for dinner with my son, his girlfriend, and her parents.
The Good: The waitress asked us what we wanted refilled and was pretty easy to deal with for the most part.
The Bad: The décor is so dated and is very worn. The place is in complete disrepair and in desperate need of a refresh. The buffet was very picked over which was strange because the place was empty. Of the food that was there, the dishes looked old. The waitress asked what we would like to see refilled so my son just started naming dishes that were empty and that he was interested in. We managed to fill our bellies with the items that they replenished. As some of the lighter eaters tried to send their plates back with their forks, the waitress insisted that people keep them because there was lots of food on the buffet that we requested that needed to be eaten. Trust me when I say that it was not a joke. Now this is a pet peeve of mine. My son asked for a refill of his pop and the waitress said we don't have refills. He looked confused towards me, and I told her to bring him another pop please. To the owners, you don't want to nickel and dime a customer when you're putting out subpar food. During a lull in eating the waitress came over and said that she didn't mean to be rude but the owners are about the turn off the lights. I checked out at 7:52pm which means it was about 7:45pm when she pushed us out of the restaurant. Their hours are 11am-9pm so this didn't make any sense. Nonetheless I wasn't that excited to eat more so we obliged their request.
Conclusion: It has been years since I have been to this restaurant, and it will be years...
Read moreAll 14 of my teenage children were fed, absolutely stuffed and took a container home with them. They all had virgin strawberry daiquiri’s for dirt cheap, chocolate milks, got refills and felt spoiled silly! The elderly host that greeted us at the door and his wife were matching the entire theme of their restaurant and came straight out of a rush hour 2 movie. The bathrooms, which is one place I always look in restaurants for expectations smelt nice, was clean, and well stocked. Our server was the entire Gem of the show and made us feel like we had private booking and we were her family! Even one of my boys, personally stayed behind to thank her at the end, we guessed her name during dinner because she was such an auntie feeling. We guessed it was: Betty, Roxanne, or Jo-anne. Turns out her name is Diane and she provided such speedy and efficient service that we didn’t even know we ordered but felt she had know us for a long time, new what we like, and read our minds. The food was delicious and hot and had ever kid in my group trying new foods. They gave us cookies and offered us gums on our way out, I couldn’t believe how quick we all ate, easy the service was, and how it didn’t break my pocket. 10 out of 10 definitely recommend, I look forward to returning to the Sault st. Marie as this will always forever now be a place I will be stopping in my books from...
