I have family members that spoke highly of this restaurant but found out the hard way it’s not. I ordered the chicken breast sandwich (tea something plate) with a scone and butter tart. When I got my food to my surprise i see they don’t use chicken breast and is false advertising. The chicken breast is that mechanically separated garbage sponge imitation. I asked the server and they confirm is bagged chicken from there suppliers. I find it a shame because everything else seemed fine, but I’m not one to eat that. Also it’s not what I ordered as that’a not chicken breast. It’s the left over from the butcher you can look online it’s gross how it’s made. Also I didn’t eat anything on the plate and was charged for the meal. Very unprofessional. Server was amazing tho. Owner should be ashamed!

This is now a reply to the owner: I actually know what I am talking about I got off the phone with you’re distributor and it’s not chicken breast it’s mechanically separated chicken like I said before. Chicken breast has one ingredient not like you mentioned with multiple ingredients. they confirmed it’s rib meat with some chicken breast with fillers to hold it together. You need to take responsibility as they said it’s not to be listed as chicken breast. Since it’s clearly not. Once again shows what kind of...

Came here today (Canada’s Day) for lunch and had to leave this review of our experience here.

I came with my family who are of Asian decent, and unfortunately we were treated disgustingly. Our server who was a younger female was very rude with our order… and we could really hear that in her tone of voice. I thought maybe she was having a bad day so okay maybe understandable.

That is until I witnessed her provide friendly service to the other Caucasian families around us while never checking up on our table or asking about our meal. It was clear she only treats the Caucasian guests with respect…

The food overall was decent. But seriously if you’re going to hire a server, at least make sure they have the respect to treat everyone fairly.

We can clearly tell she was treating everyone better. We ended up trying to finish our food quickly and leave because we felt extremely uncomfortable.

All in all I will never come here again, we came here expecting a pleasant meal and friendly service. You should not treat others depending on their skin color.

For crying out loud, don’t hire a server who is going to “choose” which race to provide good service...

COZY AND FRIENDLY DAYTIME RESTAURANT OFFERING QUALITY FOOD AND GREAT VALUE

We've visited this restaurant a few times for lunch and consistently been very impressed. We have enjoyed friendly, fast service in a cozy and quaint atmosphere, along with high-quality food served in decent portions for very reasonable prices. What more can you ask for?

Today we had the following: Chicken salad sandwich with a garden salad, plus a special known as "Afternoon Tea" (which, in my case, was comprised of coffee instead) that featured a chicken breast sandwich, a cranberry scone, a pecan butter tart and some of their delicious jam and cranberry chutney on the side. Everything on our plates was fresh, prepared nicely, and quite delicious. The coffee was good, too, and our cups were kept full. The service was prompt, attentive and courteous. As always.

All for under $20 per person!

We've been here three or four times and always been pleased. In a town that is sorely lacking in high-quality restaurants, bakery shops and cafés, The Pantry Shelf is a rare and...

It’s casual, it’s fun, it’s a little place, that will become YOUR place before your done. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND “ AFTERNOON TEA “ NO, it’s not just tea, it’s a bit of EVERYTHING. Sandwich, scone, butter tart, and tea with a little bit of jam and whipped cream. YES, there are other delectable fares to eat but in two years living in PP I’ve never deviated, but my family has. I didn’t even know what AFTERNOON TEA was. Take a chance and go to the bottom of Queen turn right at River and your there! Trust me when I say YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED OR BROKE - Cash or debit only
