Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Sherwood Park

On Aug 4 my wife ordered a gluten free ( grandkids are celiac) Ice Cream Birthday Cake. Today, two days later, we were driving in to pick it up. My wife decided to call to make sure it was ready to be picked up. She was told that they gave it to somebody else. Ya, you read that right.

The employee speaking on the phone even stated that the person they gave the cake to had the same last name AND had the same confirmation number from the online ordering process. This is incredibly hard to believe. We went to the DQ location. He again reiterated the story that a guy came in, had the same last name as us AND the same confirmation number so they gave him our gluten free ice cream cake. This employee stated that he understood how we felt. I find that incredibly unbelievable too. I should have asked him if he ever had 3 celiac grandkids plus 7 adults waiting to celebrate a birthday that was supposed to include a gluten free birthday cake. The employee offered us a 10% discount on any ice cream products to make up for this whole mess. That means that to make up for giving away our birthday cake, we’d get a discount of $1.49 off a box of dilly bars. I believe that to be a pitiful attempt at compensating us for giving away our gluten free birthday cake that we ordered two days ahead. They have coupons out and I've used them 3 times before and they would scan coupon and return who booklet to me.Today when I went the cashier was trying to rip off coupon and couldn't do it so asked the other girl to rip it. When I said they usually scan and give back the other girl was so rude and replied don't expect us to do that. I asked her not to talk to me like that. When I told her the last 3 times they scanned and gave it back she responded with then I'll take the coupon and again struggling to rip it off. After I said just keep the booklet she tossed on counter stood back giving me a dirty look. These are new staff usually they are fantastic here.I swear this was the last place in sherwood park you could go and feel like you were a valued customer not a burden. This is not about the coupons had I not been given it back 3 other times I wouldn't care. She was instantly rude first thing out of her mouth "don't expect us to do that" I expect nothing ever. Went there for drive thru, got milkshakes. The drive thru guy repeated the order back to us, including 1 milkshake with whipped cream and 1 without. We got to the window and they handed us 2 with whipped.

My girlfriend tried to get the attention of 2 employees, one being a young female with dark hair in a ponytail, who gave us an attitude look and ignored us completely. The second employee, a mid-30s male also looked on and ignored us as well, both with disgusted looks on their faces!

I cannot stress this enough - If you want to get paid a decent wage, and are taking work from others who are struggling for jobs, let these people be fired and replaced. There are people out there that want to work and do their jobs.
