First time to ihop in 9-10 years, took 14 min before we were greeted at our tables for drinks, etc. We ordered 1 kids meal for our kids to share, and ordered 2 kids meals and 2 adult meals, plus there was the 56Cent pancakes for canada day deal, so we asked for 3 of those, to which we were told of a sudden catch that it seems this manager/franchisee?? Told them that only 2 orders are allowed per 2 people ( after this visit we called 2 other ihops in edmonton and 1 location said there's no limit per person, and the other location said 2 per person) so we order 2 sets, then we're told that they have no strawberry compote (on the first day of a 3 day deal, convenient to run out of the biggest food cost) and told they can just make them regular pancakes, so I asked about their blueberry compote and we're told that's an upcharge, I asked the server to Confirm that because whoever does the ordering didn't order enough strawberry, they can't substitute it for the blueberry and we'll be charged, we were told that's correct ..
I had to repeat it back, which is when she went to ask the manager about it, eventually they said ok "just this table", we were tempted to leave at that point, but since we were already there and hungry, we thought what's the worst that could happen?
Food comes 20-25 minutes later and they served us 2 kids meals when we only asked for the 1, fine we won't make a fuss, but the meals had a hugely different amount of eggs on each plate. Are they just making a ton of scrambled eggs and just randomly scooping?
Sirloin and eggs were ok, nothing special, sirloin was really tough.
Bathroom in men's had half their lights burning out, and urinal not fixed for who knows how long, helped support the thought that the owner/ etc is just cutting costs where they are able and doing a bait a switch with pancakes to save money, got 2 togo boxes and 1 had a long dark black hair in it as well, had to wait 10 more minutes to get our bill, which was $9 more than it should have been, as they were wanting to show us how much their blueberry compote "costs" or just hoped we would pay, or an honest mistake
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. There's no fine print on this 56 Cent deal, and both other ihops said 2 different things as well. Will not be considering visiting THIS ihop again, and will warn those I know about our...
Read moreFirst when I walk in the restaurant, only 1 customer were on the table… the server was sitting on the phone for 10min while we were waiting for her to get a table. I wave at her said hello, but she didn’t hear me..We order sirloin steak sautéed with mushrooms and onion… we waited 40min for food, after 40min server came to us and said they made the wrong steak and the food will be ready in 7min… when the food arrive it didn’t came with mushroom and onion… the server also forgot to bring the steak knife. We ordered medium well steak… however the steak was more than well done and completely dry and the meat look completely white as if it didn’t look like beef. The steak was very hard to cut and very hard to chew. The steak didn’t have any flavour because of dryness. We got our food after the closing hour (9pm) we told the server about the food and ask her if we can talk to the manager. She said she was the manager and she also said she was new at working in ihop.
Overall, service was very poor and the cook to me seems completely inexperienced one by making wrong steak, wasting our time, and making the food completely wrong, they didn’t even give us a discount at-least for there mistake. If any manager or head office here can see my review, give me your contact information so I can talk with you. Because I don’t get it that the manager is a server yet she can’t even do a server job properly (first mistake, being busy on the phone for too long while customer is waiting, 2nd mistake when we ask about the menu how the food looks like, she had no clue she had to ask the cook and then come to us)…
We also ask her to prove weather the meat is beef or not… she didn’t even know that and said probably the meat was from the bad part of the cow (that’s red flag). Instead she can go back in the freezer/fridge and check the label to verify if it is a beef or not…. But instead she was arguing and getting upset.. so I did not like her behaviour and she needs customer skills training… otherwise she will get too emotional.
Please read my review and get back to me as soon possible, because I made videos and took pictures of the food.. so if u don’t get back to me I have to talk to my lawyer about this.. so before the situation escalates I would advise to contact me...
Read moreSo, where exactly do I start? Guess i will do so at the usual place for a restaurant review. The food is wicked to put it with a coat of brevity ! I ordered the cinnamon crape and man did it ever blow my mind! I am usually a real freak for cinnamon, I love it, my favorite spice first even to pepper, so, the first thing to hit me was the presentation, made and arranged beautifully! Ho but did that ever become the least of it when I popped that first bite, I got no chance to savor the flavor, oh no that was not the case! The flavors hit me like a bus, not in a bad way even in the least, it was such an overwhelming and moving thing to me. I know sounds stupid ya, but the taste was both scrumptious and completely overwhelming! Highly recommend it!
The service was very good considering how busy it was, friendly staff but seemed like they could use an extra body to relieve the load.
The atmosphere, hmm, how to put it...
I guess it is best put as a bit underwhelming at a first glance. However, it is decently spacious so you do not really need to worry about having to whisper for a bit of privacy. The one thing that quickly becomes apparent the longer you stay, besides the delicious smells, is that it comes off as an advocate for diabetis, just kidding of course, but I did kind of feel like I would end up in a sugar shock just by how many sweet things are depicted.
In my honest opinion, the place very well deserves five stars, deducted one star on the atmosphere for the relatively predictable...
