Five Guys — Restaurant in Sherwood Park

Ever since moving to this city, I've been on the hunt for the perfect burger. My search ended spectacularly at Five Guys, where I found more than just a meal; I found a burger experience worth writing about.

When I walked into Five Guys, the vibe was casual and welcoming. The aroma of grilling meat hit me right away, a promise of good things to come. You can see the kitchen from the counter, which adds an authentic touch—you know they’re making your burger fresh, just for you.

Ordering was simple and customizable, which I loved. I went for a bacon cheeseburger, all the way, which means it’s loaded with all the toppings the store offers—lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, and mushrooms, topped with ketchup, mustard, and mayo. The staff was super helpful, suggesting toppings and combinations, making sure I was getting exactly what I craved.

What sets Five Guys apart is the quality of their burgers. The patties are juicy and cooked to perfection, and they're generous with the cheese and bacon, which are perfectly crispy and melt-in-your-mouth good. The bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together, an often overlooked detail that can make or break a burger experience.

The fries at Five Guys deserve a review of their own. Hand-cut and fried in peanut oil, they’re served in heaping portions. I opted for the Cajun style, and they did not disappoint. They were the right mix of crispy and fluffy, with a kick of spice that complemented the burger beautifully.

Even as I enjoyed my meal, I noticed the staff moving non-stop, filling orders quickly yet efficiently, always with a smile. The place buzzes with energy, which adds to the whole dining experience.

I rounded off my meal with a peanut butter milkshake, which was thick and creamy, the perfect sweet ending to a savory feast.

Great burgers and super friendly staff, however the establishment is not decorated sufficiently for an in operation business, and although the kitchen is literally wide open, and was not a part of this next particular complaint, but in regards to the direct cooking area, this area, left deliberately exposed was not well maintained in standards of cleanliness and the overall condition. At one point, I needed the men's washroom that for whatever reason locks itself periodically To be opened so I could use the facilities, and for obvious reasons. One of the gentleman cooks who apparently had significant experience with picking the lock and I commend him on the succession this, but to give credit where it's due, it was half thanks to the kitchen cooking knife that was used to open the door, to which I wonder if it later made its way to the dishwasher before being reused. I am a Five Guys fanatic and today had the worst experience at the location in Sherwood Park. For context we ordered two burgers "all the way", and a large cajun fry. Simple order, no special instructions.

The burger patties were grossly overcooked and tasted like charcoal, and did not have any toppings or sauce at all. The burger bun was also flattened, like someone put their fist through it. The cajun fries were way too over seasoned, to the point of being inedible.

On top of all that the location didn't answer the phone when I called in to place an order prior to all this. After driving to the location and ordering I decided to phone again while waiting for my food to see what would happen. The phone was ignored, even though no one was standing in line.
