I've been coming to That Bar-B-Q Place with my family since hearing about it not long after it opened. I've travelled to Georgia a number of times on business and fell in love with southern BBQ, and this is the only BBQ restaurant that I've found in the greater Edmonton area that comes anywhere close to what you can find in the southern US.
I've tried all of the meats that Bruce (owner & pitmaster) has to offer, and the brisket & turkey are my absolute favourites. The brisket is moist and tender, and the turkey has an amazing smoky flavour. I love that he has turkey as most other BBQ joints serve chicken instead. The brisket pairs nicely with their house sauce, and I enjoy the turkey with the sweet sauce. Their pulled potato dish is enormous (potato, choice of meat & side) and includes a delicious sauce, cheese, pickles and potato chips (I'm a big guy and this fills me up). I have a few secrets when it comes to ordering this dish, but I don't want to give them out here as it puts this dish just over-the-top, but you might be able to figure it out based on the picture I've uploaded. our children love the baked beans and cornbread. The coleslaw is very flavourful.
Bruce and his staff are extremely friendly, helpful and professional and want you to enjoy your meal. Our children love going for BBQ and seeing Bruce as he treats them as if they were his own. Everyone that I've recommended That Bar-B-Q Place to that has tried it out has greatly enjoyed it. They also offer catering for groups. What more do I need to say, go check it out for yourself and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! I normally don't bother with writing reviews whether I have had a good or bad experience however after my experience with this establishment I will write one. I normally eat here at least 3 times a month as I work across the road from them. This past Friday my wife flew in from Ontario for a visit and I know how much she loves pulled pork so we stopped by to grab take out for dinner. We placed our orders received our food and then headed home to Fort Saskatchewan. We get home and find out that one, there was no sauce on her pulled pork at all. They never gave us any small take out containers with sauce to put on, like they always have for me. Second there was no plastic cutlery as we each received the baked beans side, guess we were suppose too use our fingers and the potato chips that they always put on the side were basically just crumbs you find at the bottom of the bag!! I called to voice my disappointment. There idea of an apology was not very sincere and he even had the nerve to turn it around and his exact words to me "you never made a mistake before?" He also said that he would refund us our meals and or buy us new ones, however not once did he ask for my name, or my phone number... so to the owner of That BBQ Place you have officially lost my business and don't forget when someone has a bad experience then tend to tell more people than when they have a good one.... have to love social media now eh!!!! Wish there was away to give negative stars however the lowest I can...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn Edmonton area for work and we spotted this small strip mall BBQ place in Sherwood Park while driving by in the late evening. Stopped to check it out but it was closed fairly early which makes sense for a good BBQ place. Through the windows it looked pretty quaint, kind of old diner style. The menu posted in the window was so compelling, we just had to try it. The next day we headed went back for a late lunch. The cashier, cook (BBQ pit master) dishwasher and owner greeted us and took our order. The decor has some interesting theatre to spark discussion, service was quick and the portions were hearty. Most of all, this is authentic BBQ and Paul is very passionate about his craft. The BBQ was awesome and all the sides were excellent. I loved the beans and the cornbread was delicious. The brisket was wonderful. I had the half rack of ribs and couldnāt finish my meal in the restaurant. That led to some very jealous coworkers on my next work shift lunch break. I noted they offer a catering service and if I was hosting an event, I would definitely consider this option. I will definitely dine at āThat Bar-B-Q Placeā every visit to Edmonton going forward. An after thought add as this important detail was distinct and memorable. The BBQ smokers are right behind the counter in full view, they are exceptionally clean, as is the entire...
