I'm not the type of person to leave bad reviews, especially not for a small business, so this one's tough. When I found out this was a family-owned place I started coming here all the time with my husband to support it. We go for coffee multiple times per week and love supporting locally owned businesses.
We did always notice that the service from the young blonde girl was quite unfriendly, but we never minded as we're not sensitive and know that some people are just less friendly by nature. But today at around 2:20 p.m., after I ordered a latte, I noticed she grabbed a to-go cup, and so I very kindly said, "May I have that for here, please?" as I wanted to sit in. The girl froze, rolled her eyes, then slammed the to-go cup back down on the sleeve of cups. My husband and I stood shocked for a few seconds (as we've never had someone be so rude for absolutely no reason). We were regulars here, always friendly to the staff and always tipping. We are always very nice people, even making friends with the other local businesses we frequent. I was so shocked that someone could be so mean for no reason (I've always had my lattes in the porcelain mugs as not to be wasteful, so didn't think it'd be a big deal).
While I'm kind, I'm also not a pushover, so I asked, "Did you just give me attitude because I want my latte for here?" She seemed annoyed that I called her out and tried back peddling, the other blonde lady jumping in and making up weird excuses like, "We are closing soon so we didn't want to make more dishes," and then something about how it was a busy day. As if that gives you a reason to be horribly rude to someone for zero reason? I replied, "So then all you had to do was say, 'Do you mind if I give it to you in a to-go cup today?' and I would've happily said, 'Sure!'" I wouldn't have minded one bit! I told them I don't understand why they're being so rude when we come in all the time and are always so nice and tip them and support the business. They kind of stood there smirking and giving weird excuses, and finally the girl says with an attitude that she's "sorry." The customers behind us saw what happened and gave the girl a look and left too. I don't blame them.
The thing is, how do you know one of us wasn't having a rough day or going through something tough? You don't treat kind people like that—ever. If I were rude in any way, then sure. But I did not even do the slightest thing wrong here—all I did was very nicely ask if I could please have my drink in a porcelain mug. That's it. I'm still scratching my head and confused, but mostly just grossed out. I'm so happy that I'm nothing like that girl and could never treat people badly for no reason. People like that are quite frankly hideous to me.
Needles to say, we're done supporting this place for as long as that girl works there, and will support our friends at the other Squamish coffee shops instead for now.
P.S. The comment about how they were closing soon still baffles me, as we were there over an hour before closing time. A made-up excuse to cover for the girl's...
Read moreThis morning, I ordered a apple cinnamon muffin and an Americano for a takeout. After paying and adding a 15% tip, I politely asked the barista if she could kindly butter the warm muffin. My hands were full and no one else was waiting to be served. To my surprise she answered "There are plastic knives there. You can butter it yourself."
This was a needless inconvenience for me when the barista could have quickly and efficiently taken the muffin and made a cut in it and inserted one of the pre-packaged butters they have. This is a trivial matter except for the fact that I already tipped her! Tip: To Insure Proper service.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that would have considered it a pleasant nicety to have my warm muffin buttered. Alas, I managed it myself. It was a great coffee and a tasty muffin. Bravo on leaving a good taste in my mouth ... but a wanting in my heart. Starbucks would have buttered my muffin (and served it on a plate) on request. I expect more here than at Starbucks and alas I can only give 2 stars. Tasted good. Not serviced...

This place came to us as a complete surprise, the good kind! Their coffee is silky smooth and full of texture; absolutely delicious gelato, I tried 4 flavours all were amazing but my favourite is cookie and cream!
The location is really convenient, right next to the Sea to Sky highway, inside the Squamish Adventure Centre, with huge clean windows overlooking the Stawamus Chief, picture perfect!
Staff was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint was that they close at 4 pm, way too...
