So there wasn’t an option for 0 stars, or else I would have for sure! They don’t even deserve one star. Came here to have a good meal after looking at their 4.2-star review, but to be honest, their restaurant washroom review board sticks to its work of being at 4.2 instead of the restaurant itself!
Starting off, the server told us after taking our order that the food would take about 30 mins to be prepared. We agreed to that and were ready to wait because we understand it takes time. So meanwhile, we ordered some drinks—we ordered sweet lassi and mango lassi. Worst lassis I have ever tried in my whole life for sure! Just a blended buttermilk with a little sugar doesn’t make it lassi! And adding mango essence to the same thing doesn’t make it mango lassi!
Secondly, food came right after 30 mins so we assumed it must be made fresh and delicious, but even though it was fresh, none of the dishes had flavor. Ordered a sizzler—it was way too tangy! Ordered dal makhni, okra curry, and mix veg curry—every single dish lacked seasoning. Felt like I was having flavorless curry! Way too bad! Asked for salt, and it took another 5 mins to bring it out!
Then let’s talk about service. There were 3 servers but all were too busy gossiping and looking at their phones instead of checking on tables! They didn’t check on our table after the food was out, not even a single time! And there were only 2 tables, and still, they act like this?
I am a restaurant operator too, so I understand that if a restaurant is busy, sometimes these things can happen. But being like this on a weekend, and that too with just 2 tables in the whole restaurant??? How???
This is not the service you give, and not the food you serve! A humble request to the owners to look out for the management team! I don’t think I would ever recommend this place to a single...
Read moreMy husband and I had a very good experience here tonight so when I got back to the hotel I was surprised to see a couple of negative comments. I’ll compare Indian Spice to our usual Indian restaurant (in Sidney, BC). First, for a Friday night at dinner time, we were seated quickly. Our server, Navneet, smiled and greeted us when we arrived and gave us the best available booth. Chai tea was not on the menu and when I asked her if it was possibly available, she was happy to have it made for us and asked if we wanted it sweetened. Chai’s spices change according to the maker’s taste — ours had a little more fennel and a little less cardamom but it was tasty and hot. Perfect on a cold, rainy evening. For an appetizer we splurged on Samosa with Chana. The serving dish was full to the brim. The home made vegetable samosas were covered in a very tasty and slightly hot chic pea / tomato / red onion sauce. We had not had this before. It was filling and very good. The mains were Lamb Masala (his choice — I would have chosen Goat Masala) which was slightly lemony and Dal Makhani which was slightly sweet. They worked really well together. Rice or breads (of which there is a wide selection) was extra. If we hadn’t filled up on the appetizer I would have insisted on trying one of the traditional desserts. Based on how good the dishes were, I suspect the desserts would have been home made, too. Every dish was delicious. The spicing was Medium, as we requested. There was no up selling — in fact, I heard Navneet making suggestions to a table of 3 hungry men based on what she thought would best fit their requests and not a more expensive menu item. The restrooms were clean. I gave the atmosphere a 4 only because the background music was a little loud but I didn’t ask to have it turned down. Both of us would...
Read moreAll of the recent 5 star reviews HAVE to be fake or they are not going to the same restaurant as I just went to 😂 I ordered on UberEats and when I showed up they had given my order away to someone else. I had to show them the bill on my credit card as well as my Uber receipt to prove to them that it really was my order. They then took 40 minutes to make 1 paratha and a mango lassi. In total I was waiting for 55 minutes, only to receive probably the worst paratha and mango lassi I have ever had in my life. I wasn’t able to eat more than a quarter, or drink more than a few sips, it was so bad. A complete waste of $25.
Edit in response to their reply: Yes, I ordered from UberEats for pickup as a customer. I picked it up myself because I did not order for delivery. Also, that is what the waitress told me last night, that "a woman with the exact same name and the exact same order came" and picked up my order. I find this hard to believe, and find it more likely that someone came in and said "order for pickup" and my order was given to them. I think this because while I was waiting for my order (as they did not tell me my order had already been picked up, they just told me to wait), they gave me an order for someone called Michael that was $60 worth of food! If I had not thought that the bag was strangely heavy for my order, and looked at the receipt and gone back and told them it was the wrong order, it would have been poor Michael who would have been waiting probably 2 hrs for their onion bahji! The problem is that my order was given away without checking that it was to the right person, and I had a terrible experience proving it was my order, waiting for it, and...
