We don't normally leave negative reviews but we feel compelled to as strong advocates of the vegan movement.
We have been to the Sunflower three times since it opened and every time with a hope that a vegan option would be available.
When nothing stood out as vegan, we asked the staff and we were offered 'bread' followed by 'avocado toast' which, as any vegan will know, is a quick and non-creative offering. We get offered avo toast A LOT!
Every cafe in town has a vegan option, The Green Olive in particular, where the owner makes her own vegan butter for the desserts on offer to cater for her customers. There are also around 6 options in there and good offerings from Zephyr, The Adventure Center and the Ledge.
We were even advised by the staff at the Sunflower to 'try Zephyr'. Not a great business model turning away hungry customers looking for a new fix.
We hope to see a vegan option on the menu soon, the vegan movement is booming and the amount of people following a plant based diet has globally increased 360% in the last ten years, it makes sense to cater for at least 10% of the population and the many tourists that are passing through the town.
Not only that, there are non-vegan people who are dairy intolerant and/or have allergies to dairy products.
We hope to find that the Sunflower has moved with the times and is offering a vegan option(s)...
Read moreI was pleasantly surprised to see how much has changed with Sunflower Bakery over the year (I use to work there, back in 2007 😱). I love the donuts and glad that they’ve kept some of traditional bake good from the OG owner. I gave this 3 because EVERYTIME that I’ve gone in, I’ve seen to have gotten some sort of attitude from one of male staff. I don’t know why, I’m really nice customer and I always buy a large amount of food when I’m there.
I always have to ask for a bag, again I buy a lot so some of the food are packaged on their own. Then I have to bag it myself... ok fine I’ll let it go.
When you’re ringing up a customer you usually ask “how would you like to pay? Machine, ok here you go or whenever you’re ready.”... I get “HELLO?” I said “yup” and he put the machine in front of me and I say “thanks”. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a “you’re welcome or thanks for coming in.”
It’s common sense to have basic manners of please and thank you, so I would expect that in customer service as well.
Again the food is great just be nice to your customers and there’s no harm in giving...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. Giving 1 star because i can't give lesser. Will never be using nor recommending them. Jamie was very polite and good in taking order over the phone for a delivery of a surprise birthday cake. He agreed to deliver and i did confirmed again on the date of delivery, all was good till the time. Later i was surprised ( instead of my friend) because he didn't deliver the cake also he didn't informed that he wasn't able to deliver. Next morning when i enquired about the delivery of the cake he was super rude and said " we are a bakery and not a taxi who deliver " . I was soooo shocked when he stated that "because of people like you we don't deliver and will never deliver in future, i don't want to argue with you on this " My one question only, did i forced you to deliver? If you would have said no then i would not have ordered. Being a local business when we want to support them, business owner like him doesn't know how to provide customer service. I was very upset by...
