Hey, “Wasabi King” here… usually when I go out to a sushi restaurant for dinner, the only humiliation I have to face is minimal. Pushing when I should’ve pulled on the front door, accidentally spilling a drop of soy sauce. Well, tonight was different. Tonight I faced humiliation and scrutiny like I’ve never imagined I would see in my life. I decided to order extra wasabi. The small portion included with the bento box just wasn’t quite the quantity I was looking for. After getting my dish of soy sauce to the perfect soy sauce/wasabi ratio, about half of the extra wasabi I had ordered was left. I should have known better. I had no idea this decision was going to cost me so severely. The server says to me “Oh, the wasabi king couldn’t finish his extra wasabi”. And disembowels every morsel of dignity of my entire being. This "little" incident has had major repercussions, My 2 partners were also quite dumbfounded. Quite frankly I don't see my relationship with my 3rd partner going into another restaurant together again, Which is going to put a damper on things as I am a foodie with a vast palette. Tonight's meal was a 8 out of 10 but those comments put a bad taste in my mouth. I'd give it's 3.5 out of 10 after that abrasive remark on behalf of your server. I was once what most call an ALPHA MALE but the comment from the staff was a guillotine to my masculinity. Maybe next time, instead of mints or candy with the poorly organized bills, maybe give the option of some testosterone supplements as it appears your staff is skilled in stripping a 'mans' dignity and self worth. Not to mention, this debacle has cost me my relationship with my current partner. We’ve decided to go our separate ways after this, she told me I would need to start building a new life alone. And thanks for the humiliation wish I noticed I had ordered it on the menu. Thanks for the bowl of wasabi. You’ll notice this review is left under a generous star rating. This is because I believe in second chances. Karma will do it’s job. I’ll now begin to rebuild my life , looking for my Wasabi Queen. Ps... the nigiri was to...

Really great Sushi takeout in Squamish.

Friday night and my wife's birthday request is sushi. A friend told me this place is the new hotness. I gathered everyone's order and placed the order by phone 2hrs before I needed to pick it up. It sounded like I just got it in in time.

The food wasn't quite ready at 7 (more like 7:15) but the staff was super pleasant and the threw in an order of edamame for the trouble 👍👍. Restaurant had two groups dining in, so that's an option. Good to know. There were 4 other people waiting for pickup outside so order early especially on a Friday.

The prices were really reasonable as well. I would say about 25% cheaper than the sushi place across the street (i haven't actually done the math, it just seems that way at a glance) and every bit as good. Some dishes even better, although my wife preferred the other place's churashi bowl. She thought the fish choices in the bowl were not as good, but the fish was excellent.

All of our sashimi, maki rolls, gyoza and tempura disappeared quickly and everyone really enjoyed the food.

This is the place in Squamish. Great sushi and...

We noticed the awning while getting gas (after sadly learning our favourite place wasn't opening until 4pm). Best decision ever.

The lighting & general ambiance is visible but not overexposed, and staff were very attentive to us (though we were one of 3 tables at the time).

We ended up ordering sushi pizza, two regular rolls (Negitoro & Spicy Tuna), and some of the regular rolls.

What arrived was some of the most well-constructed & beautifully plated dishes I've seen in quite some time.

The pizza had a crispy rice base but wasn't oily, and was perfectly balanced with salmon, avocado, and tobiko.

The special rolls were the caterpillar roll (California Unagi Roll topped with Avocado) and snow cone roll (some sort of dynamite or california roll topped with seared white fish & dressed in a creamy garlic sauce).

They also included complimentary miso soup with our orders, which was nice, if somewhat overseasoned.

I hope to stop by and try more of the delicious food on my trips to &...

Umai's chefs don't just make sushis, they create art! I came accross this hidden treasure because I had a craving for sushis... And wow was I pleasantly surprised. I've never seen such beautiful creations before. The attention to detail is out of this world and the sushis were so tasteful I didn't even need dipping sauce. The prices are higher than other places but they clearly use fresh quality ingredients and the portions are massive. These are not your usual boring sushis. Also, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. They were professional and had great energy. The service was quick and efficient. The chefs even took the time to thank me cheerfully as I left. In short : I highly recommend this place to any sushi lovers and I can't wait to go back to Squamish for more. Can't fault it!

This was my first time eating here and it was OK. I had one of their lunch boxes. The price was ok and the service was fine but the food was bland. The box had 8 pieces of California roll but it wasn’t flavorful. The tempura was good, 2 prawn and 2 veg. However the veg were both sweet potatoes which were not fully cooked. The teriyaki chicken was really watered down due to the cabbage slaw stirfry that it was served with. The box came with a salad too which I didn’t end up trying and 2 fried potato (I think) patties which were also very bland and cold inside. Overall a disappointing experience. I don’t think I will be trying this restaurant again.
