Expensive. 2. All bagged/from a box - not home cooking, premade ingredients slapped together on a plate. 3. Not like eastern cooking at all! 4. SAVE YOUR TIME. Have been trying to get to the Atlantic Kitchen for quite some time now. Total disappointment when I finally did. It took a while to get my order put in as there was only one waitress and about 15 tables on the go. I originally wanted the “newfie steak meal” which was fried bologna & a side, but as it turns out they don’t use eastern made bologna which does ship to Alberta and is available at business centres. Instead, they use a bologna made in central Canada which has a completely different taste. Disappointed you’re called “Atlantic Kitchen” but not supporting Eastern businesses while pretending to. I ended up ordering a turkey dinner as well as a cold plate for my lunch for the next day. When the turkey dinner arrived, it looked good to the eye. However as I got deeper into the plate, the turkey which was covered in gravy was in fact ice cold as I bit into it, as I’m assuming it came from pre-portioned bags from the freezer/fridge, slapped on a plate with gravy and sent out. The gravy itself was from a packet, not real gravy. It also wasn’t even the good packet gravy, it was bland and light colour. You have all these different meats but can’t make homemade gravy with the juices? Next, the mashed potato was majorly clumpy. At one point I had to put an entire half of a potato in my mouth and chew it, like barely mashed still in potato form. The cranberry sauce was literally a singular packet cranberry from Kraft… that’s ridiculous. The vegetables were from a bag and not traditional vegetables. What eastern dinner plate serves cauliflower as your side vegetable? They were also cold, wet and extremely mushy. The only thing I enjoyed on the plate was the dressing. All that for 21.99$? Next I moved onto the cold plate the following day. They wouldn’t allow me to make amendments because they were premade, but it wasn’t even fair. All three of the potato salads, mustard, beet, and regular all tasted the same. Barely any flavour, had I done a blind taste test I couldn’t tell mustard or beet apart from each other and the regular one. Those two are supposed to be stronger & very flavourful… what happened? The pasta salad was alright, same as the coleslaw/bun. The roast beef & ham were thrown in without care, just deli slices. Turkey was a bit chewy, I got some kind of cartilage at one point. Totally disappointed in all of this. If a Newfie made this… go ahead and do us a favour and forget the...
Read moreThe Good: The fish and chips were good; not too greasy. The coleslaw was good as well.
The Bad: I was so looking forward to a hot turkey sandwich (they can't be found elsewhere in St. Albert) but my expectations were too high. I was comparing it to that of an Irving Big Stop. The turkey had a funny taste to it. It was a mix of dark and white meat. The fries were tasteless, and last but not least, the vegetables that came with it were totally GROSS. They were dry, old , tasteless and were frozen prior. They tried to spruce them up by adding spice on it but YUCK! I mentioned it to the server and she said, "Oh OK I'll let them know back there." Nothing more said- no compensation or apology. Furthermore the kids meals are expensive-about $7 for fries and hot dog plus 2.50 for a drink which makes for nearly $10/kid.
Finally the service was quick but we got there at 4:30 pm on a Wednesday. The server's attitude was just OK.
Personally the Keg is the only restaurant that warrants my hard earned cash. They correct and compensate errors plus they are very friendly not to mention the food is delectable.
It's too bad- I was born and bred on the east coast and couldn't wait to enjoy the food there with my family. I likely will spend my cash...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst and most brutal service of any food establishment in St. Albert. We payed Skip to deliver 2 meals and they delivered one. Instantly realizing one small container could not hold nearly $100 of food as advertised. I took a picture and brought it in and opened the container which as I expected was only half of what I ordered and paid for. After calling and talking to the person in charge manger/owner i was informed that I can drive there and pick up the balance of the order that I paid for that they neglected to verify, even with the premium charged for skip to deliver. The other option was they can give credit on a future order. I said just refund what you didn't provide and I was told sure come here and get you refund. The service and accountability of the management/ownership of the Atlantic Kitchen is not qualified to run a lemonade stand. I may never see the $50 dollars they shorted me, however I will inform as many potential customers as I can to not make my mistake and avoid the Alantic Kitchen disaster...
