My Long-Time Love Affair with This Cajun Gem!

If you're looking for genuinely delicious Cajun food with a side of fantastic service, stop scrolling – you've found your spot. I've been a regular at this particular Cajun restaurant for over twelve years now, and honestly, it feels like coming home every time I walk through the door.

Seriously, the food here is just consistently incredible. They have an absolutely massive menu, which is great because there's always something new to try, but I usually can't resist my tried-and-true favorites. My usual go-to is a hearty bowl of their rich, flavorful Gumbo. It's got that perfect depth of flavor, all the right spices, and always hits the spot. And then, if I haven't already hit my limit (which, let's be real, I usually have but power through), I dive into the Pasta Jambalaya. It's so good, perfectly spiced, loaded with goodness, and just incredibly comforting. I swear, every time I promise myself I'll just have a little, but then I end up completely overindulging because it's all just that delicious. It's a happy problem, though!

But it's not just the food that keeps me coming back on a regular basis; the staff here are absolutely top-notch. They're always friendly, super attentive without being intrusive, and genuinely make you feel welcome. After all these years, they know what good service means.

If you're in the mood for some authentic, finger-licking good Cajun food with fantastic service and a menu that’ll keep you coming back for more, this is absolutely the place to be. Just try not to overindulge too much... or maybe do, it's worth it! You...

I have been coming to the Cajun house for at least seven or eight years now. It is my hands down favourite restaurant. And in my opinion the best Cajun food there is. I have introduced several friends to their delicious cooking and not a single person has ever been disappointed. I have been working in the restaurant industry for 12 years and can honestly say that this is the only restaurant that has ever checked off every box for me. The food is amazing and unique, they always have seasonal menus with dishes that are equal or even better than their regular menu. The ambiance and view are hands-down the best out of Edmonton area and St. Albert restaurants I have ever been to (I’ve been to all of them). Their Decour is unique, an old fashioned fine dinning setup splashed with a funky Louisiana twist. The entry with a glass display of different types of hot sauce and the walls with different artist’s renditions of bottles of Tabasco sauce (which are probably my Second favourite thing next to the food, I wish that I could hang these in my house). I have tried almost everything on the menu but I have to say that the Chicken Monroe is always going to be my favourite (make sure to ask for a side of extra sauce, you will thank me later). Last but not least, creators of one of the top 3 desserts in the city. The white chocolate cheesecake, make sure you save room for this baby, you...

Stopped in mid afternoon after a chilly walk for a hot beverage and dessert. We were asked if we had a reservation, to which we replied no. No reservation??? the server said...I looked into the restaurant to see it was empty save one table in the corner with a couple of people at it. She managed to find us a seat. I ordered Earl Grey tea & dessert. When the tea came, it was Cream of Earl Grey, which is much different than the plain Earl Grey as it has flowers and vanilla added to it which gives it a very perfume-like taste and smell. I asked if they had any regular Earl Grey, to which our server replied this is what they serve for Earl Grey and in 20 years no one has ever complained. I left the tea sitting on the table as no other option was offered. She wasn't finished making her point however, and a few minutes later brought the tin of tea to the table to show me the tea, including the blue flowers in it. Which was my point, but that seemed irrelevant. She turned the tin when I tried to look at the label on the front, but it didn't matter as I already knew what it said. A small issue in the big picture, but it cost them two customers as we won't be returning. It easily could have been dealt with in a much better way, and there are a number of good St. Albert restaurants with...

We have been to the Cajun House a few times and thus I was surprised I have not done a review of this restaurant. My son had the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo which was nice and hot, temperature-wise, and reasonable spicy. I tried it and we both enjoyed it. For the main meal, my son had the Filet Mignon Ya-Ya which is described as broiled twin medallions of beef tenderloin which is served on a red current, port demi-glace sauce. My son said it was OK , but also above average quality. It is probably just not the type of steak we are used to having for supper. I had the Breaded Veal Panne, which was veal escalopes, served with pasta tossed with basil cream sauce. To me, the sauce needed to be a bit more of it since the pasta soaked up most of it. The veal had little taste and when I asked my son; it surprised him since he thought it tasted like chicken, not veal. It was nice but not a lot of taste. All in all, it was a good meal. The Gumbo was the best part of the meal. The service was great. She was attentive and answered all our questions. We found it cold, we mentioned it to her, and she was able to increase the heat to make it palatable. Yes we would go back.
