Shane Dwyer 1 review a month ago Take out | Dinner | CA$20–30 We always choose Golden Dragon when we have a craving for Chinese food, and it never disappoints. Food always ready in 15-20 minutes and ALWAYS hits the spot. Would recommend to anyone looking for a Chinese food option in St. Thomas. … More

Very understaffed. Waited for service as it appeared no staff was running the restaurant; Phone kept ringing but nobody there to answer it; only one lady working the kitchen, desk and servicing patrons.
Food tastes good, however it was cold; Improper hotwells as they don't heat the food. $52.00 for cold food and 2 pops.
Food signage was incorrectly labeled. Guessing what I was eating. Food was not being refilled once it ran out. Limited dessert options.
It was cold in the restaurant as there was no shelter from the cold due to the door opening and closing.
We will not return again. Food: 2/5 | Service: 1/5 | ...
Read moreSo, I'm kinda new to town and when asking around, 'the best Chinese food in town'... EVERYone says it's the little place in the mall. I've had it a handful of times and, it's mediocre mall food at best. No idea what everyone is on about. So, tonight I decided to try Lucky. I feel pretty unlucky about that decision. At first, I was excited because the lady told me that orders over $30 you get free Lemon chicken! Awesome! I'd have food for three days! Not just leftovers tomorrow. Perfect! Then I started eating it. Now, I'm sad that I have this to eat for three days. I decided to try it cos they have Chicken Soo Gai on the menu. For me, the Soo Gai is what I judge a Chinese restaurant on. (some places these days just call it 'almond chicken'.) Like Thai places, you try the Pad Thai. Diners, the Club Sandwich. Indian, the butter chicken. Chinese restaurants... I try the Soo Gai.
It was... hard. Soo Gai should be a thin layer of kinda flaky breading. The breading was super thick and hard. The chicken fried rice didn't seem 'fried' at all and was very light on flavour. The FREE lemon chicken was... chewy. Like... jerky softened with some sauce. And in the breading... there was a sort of 'cake' flavour. Like Betty Crocker was back in the kitchen.
The Mixed Vegetables were really fantastic. But... they're going to run out and I will still have all this other weird and difficult stuff to eat.
The lady who took my call and served me when I went in to get it was very nice. Nice enough for me to almost feel bad about leaving this...
Read moreMy wife and I have gone to the buffet 3x since August 2019, and really haven't been disappointed. The first time, the buffet had only been open for 2 days, and that being said, the food was hot and fresh (aside from the fried rice, was a little dried out and bland) but for only being the second day of the buffet operating, we left full, and happy. Second visit was in early September, buffet had improved somewhat, again except the fried rice which wasn't as dry, but still very bland. Peppered beef was amazing, as was most everything else, including the wonton soup! Third visit, late September, restaurant was busy, buffet was looking good, salad bar had improved, food was delicious, did I mention the peppered beef?, Still amazing!! Everything had improved 10 fold, except the darn fried rice!! It was piping hot, had what looked like a bag of frozen peas, corn and carrots mixed in, which is fine with me, but it has no taste!! Was bland. Could not taste sesame oil, nothing. Hopefully they improve the rice, but other than that, it's been a decent experience price wise, and never left hungry ever. Keep up the good work Lucky Kitchen!! Btw, the peppered beef is...
