Our party of 4 had read many great reviews, therefore drove 1hr to check it out. The server was great, answering our many questions, the wait for food was reasonable, and the portions were generous. We tried a variety of different foods. The coffee was good, the summa borscht was bland, but flavorful pieces of sausage in it. The glums koki were very plain and bland. We did eat them with lots of jam, which was ok. The Mennonite Combo Plate came with 2 cottage cheese perogies and kielke, with cream gravy, (schmaunt fat) sausage, fried onions and coleslaw . The perogies were delicious as was the kielke, and fried onions, but the gravy tasted like cream that had been thicken with flour, no flavor, not even salt or pepper. The sausage was dry, but flavorful and the coleslaw? 3 orders were very good, the 4th order appeared to be the last scrapings of the bowl. Mostly small bits swimming in dressing. The Mennonite Poutine, was ordered with half order of beef gravy and half of their famous cream gravy, on home fries. The fries were excellent, the beef gravy good, but the cream gravy was, bland, no flavor, same gravy as the other plate. The other order, ( best choice) was the toasted Denver on rye, with home fries. Good choice, good fries and great sandwich. At this point we didn't chance ordering dessert. Though the service was very good, we were very disappointed with most of the food, after reading many great reviews , and will not be going back. For the money we spent, we could have had a much better experience. If you like plain, very bland food, this would be a...
Read moreWe were having a last minute family dinner and I didn't have time to cook so we decided to support somewhere local. We decided on MJ's and were EXTREMELY disappointed! We definitely expected more! First off, we were way overcharged for what we got (and we even gave a generous tip expecting the best-we should've looked at what we got first!) We told them to surprise us , and were charged $150 for some fries, chicken strips, small amount of farmer sausage & ham (both severely dry and overcooked) we then got some noodles & sauce and some cottage cheese perogies... The most tasteless dish I have ever had in my life.. the sauce minus well have been a flour sauce it had zero taste at all, we had to put SO much salt on it so it would have some flavor, the perogies were mainly dough, and again- tasteless. for being 'homemade' I definitely expected better. This meal, costed likely under $20 to make.. and we were charged over $120 more to have it cooked? Sad. Don't get me wrong- i'll gladly pay $150 for food, however what we got so tasteless, dry, and basic fries and chicken strips... that's not worth $150.
We definitely will not be coming back, and they have lost out on potential regular customers of a...
Read moreShare a lunch with three other girlfriends as we were shopping in town! Food was not great! Especially mine. I had a supposed grilled chicken sandwich on a roll with lettuce. Mine was the last to come, and I had ordered a salad with house dressing. The chicken was So small barely fit half the bun! It had been grilled so hard that it was tough! The salad dressing was nothing but oil had no flavour so I asked if I could have an alternate and she said sure she’ll bring me one well I had finished that dry sandwich Which had a piece of lettuce on that was brown and disgusting which I took off! Finally, one of the other girls noticed her dropping food off next-door and asked can she have her dressing? She brought it so I had to eat that at the end! Certainly not impressed and would never go back! I usually take pictures of everything I eat, but I couldn’t this time. It...
