Okay.. let's be honest here. First off the positives.. it was open for dinner on Canada day whereas most Summerside restaurants were closed except fast food. The server was okay.. the interior was dated but okay and relatively clean.
Now the negatives the FOOD WAS BEYOND HORRIBLE. The Lemon chicken, Lobster fried rice and hot n sour soup were the worst I have eaten anywhere in my 62 years. By far.. even the two egg rolls we ordered were burned and oily with the taste of very very old oil.
The hot n sour soup was dark brackish grey and full of bean sprouts.. no BBQ pork..no lemon grass..no green onion..no egg drop.. no bamboo shoot.. no veg except bean sprouts.. it went back to the kitchen. We were very hungry but really couldn't eat anything except the egg rolls which I later regretted.. I tried 2 lemon chicken balls?? Which is weird because the dish is usually like a cutlet with delicate tempura coating.. bleh.. awful and tasted a bit rancid.. the lobster fried rice was very very dark brown and dried out.. again ZERO veg in it.. often there is a bit of green onion, diced carrot corn kernels and peas NOTHING but "rancid" tasting rice and tiny flakes of what might have been lobster??? And the pricing was CCCCRAZZY high even taking into account inflation. No offer of a discount on the bill in spite of the mostly unbeaten food.. we were on our way to the North Port Inn and had been warned that the area restaurants were closed and we should try Summerside on the way up.. WOW just wow.. I thought PEI was renowned for its tourism and fresh seafood.. it was very hard to find good food anywhere but this restaurant was literally the WORST I've...
Read moreI bought 81.00 worth of take out food.
First of all, the eggross were very thin. They wete about 1/4 of the size of egg rolls at other Chineese restaurants. They were also very greasy, as if the fat was dirty.
We ordered 2 types of vegetables. They were both tasteless and soggy. Very bland. The vegetables are my favorite part, and I had to throw mine in the compost bin. I was very disappointed.
I found the chicken balls had no salt in the batter, and they had a strange sour taste. I don't usually leave bad reviews, but I am just a bit ticked that I paid so much money for bad food.
The rice was okay. The ribs were okay. I called them to complain. She told me that she would refund me, if I brought the food back. I live an hour away, so I wasn't able to do that. I put the left overs in the freezer until I go back next week. I did not take the food that I through in the compost, so it is not going to show the true picture. I don't know if this was an off day, but it was definitely not good. They offered me a $25.00 gift card, which is useless. I will never eat...
Read moreWe were on vacation and happened upon this restaurant. Reasonably priced, good tasting food. Not a fancy place but you will feel the connection this restaurant has with the community as we did. Wait staff are friendly and appeared to know many of the customers by name. The operator was very patient with and eventually helped an elderly woman who struggled with the point of sale machine as the woman paid for her food. A little later two females came in to pick up a take out order and we overheard the conversation of the death in the customers family that had occurred that day. Long heartfelt hugs were exchanged and the customers could not convince the operator to take anything for the food order. That is connection to the community and shows something special about this place. Its not a fancy place but you will leave...
