This location's business ethics is petty and highly questionable. It may seem so small that nobody cares, but people should know that this is what your business does.
I visited this location today for lunch due to a promotion / coupon for a Stackhouse 1/3lb Cheeseburger Combo for $7.99.
I was charged the combo, soda tax (misleading description on the receipt) and a paper bag (even though I was dining in when a bag is not needed). Overall, my total came out to $8.97 as per the receipt / picture. The cashier rings up the total and says "$9.00 please".
I paid with a $10 bill and given a loonie back.
While waiting, I realized that I may have been overcharged as I recalled the coupon was $7.99. With taxes, it can't add up to $9, can it? Technically, $8 plus 5% GST should be $8.40.
So I asked the cashier for a receipt and mentioned that I think I was overcharged.
While looking at the receipt, that's when I noticed I was charged for a "Single use Bag", as well as the "Combo PST 0.22" line. I didn't understand this at first, as it appears I'm being charged a tax, then getting taxed on the taxes. It wasn't until after I left that I realized this is the soda tax. They should re-word this to indicate it's the Soda Tax, as the line looks totally misleading.
I was surprised to see the bag charge on the receipt. At no point in the conversation during ordering was I asked if I was dining in or ordering for take out.
So I mentioned that I was dining in, and that she charged me for a bag that was totally unnecessary. She mentioned they only have a handful of dine-in food trays, so they went with charging everyone a bag instead.
Then I noticed my change on the receipt. Yeah, I was shorted a nickel, by the cashier rounding down when she should have rounded up. Not that I care over a nickel, but this is skimming your customers.
I went back to sit down to finish my lunch. Another older customer who was sitting in the restaurant came over to me and said he's a regular patron who visits almost daily, and not happy he's being charged a bag fee for dining in either. Then I looked around the dining room and everyone who was dining in had a bag. What a waste of paper bags and money being thrown away into the environment that is totally unnecessary. Give your dine-in customers a plastic dine-in food tray. Your restaurant had them before.
So in summary: "Combo PST 0.22" should be renamed "Soda Tax"; prevents your customers thinking they're being double taxed Learn the rounding up / rounding down change; it's only been around for the past ten years, since 2013. This is not new. Inform your customers they are being charged for a paper bag when necessary, rather than just charging it and saying nothing Get more dine-in food trays for those who want to dine in; you've offered it before, and other locations / brands still offer it so why can't your business do it?
Would I visit this location again? The petty skimming from rounding up / rounding down and paper bag charges for every customer regardless of dining in or taking out is wrong. I'll visit other DQ...
Read moreWe made an online order at 939pm today and the order was expected to be done for pick at 954pm, arrived at 956pm with the door locked, hand written sign stating they were closing at 1030pm. Mind you the store hours is til 12am.
We knocked and the staff just ignored us, even though our order is sitting there waiting for us..
We called in and they answered, we told them the situation and that we already prepaid for the items and she asked for the name and then told us that it was ready but we couldn't place an additional order (crunch n cookie dipped cone) to the order since it wasnt available online when we ordered all the other items and we're given the excuse that they couldn't make it due to the "power outage due to a fire". The lights were on.. they had our 3 blizzards already made within the time we ordered to point of pick up, no smell smoke, no fire outside, no power outage.. make it make sense!
The staff are just lazy and just wanted to get off work with a FAKE excuse.
Do better, it isn't that hard to make a cone and dip it. Also don't answer the phone if you are considering...
Read moreMy mother, who is new to Canada, bought a cake from their store without realizing that it contained ice cream. She was trying to surprise my younger brother, so she placed the cake in the fridge. However, after a day, when she took it out, it had completely melted.
I tried calling the store to see if I could either exchange the cake or get a partial refund. Unfortunately, the cashier I spoke to was very rude and yelled at me, saying that they do not accept exchanges or returns. She also claimed that everyone knows Dairy Queen only sells ice cream cakes. To make matters worse, she said, “If your mom doesn’t know how to speak English, she should learn it.” This was very upsetting, especially since the cashier’s own English was difficult to understand.
I called the store several times, but each time they hung up on me after saying they couldn’t hear me. I tried to stay calm and respectful, but whenever I tried to explain the situation, they continued to hang up on me.
I do not recommend to go...
