smaller neighborhood park with short loop trails, playground and water park. currently discussions and petitions on roadway development that will cut through part of the park reducing the park size. over the winter even though we had little snow, there are some portions of the trail that have fallen trees and branches. since January many of these have not been cleared yet, although likely some regulars have shoved some of the larger branches out of the way a bit. also noticed and issue over summer months is there is a lot of trash that is accumulated at the east pond, also during warmer months youths tend to hang out and there is usually a strong smell of marijuana use. also the ponds are not directly fed from any creeks, the area tends to attract a mosquitos and flies, and can also start to have some funky smells. It is also quite possible there are some homeless dwellers that are camping out in the northern end of the park in the brush. sometimes you can see noticeable bike and foot tracks into the brush, and not showing and return markings. the park is generally safe, although the south side is more widely used due to the water play and...

My family and I visited on a sunny weekend day and had a fantastic time. The park is aptly named, with many Hawthorne trees along the walking trails. Families and individuals were out walking, jogging and biking along the paths, which wind through the trees and open grassy areas. For kids, there is an excellent playground complete with swings and climbing structures. My children had a blast here while I relaxed at the nearby picnic shelter. The spray park was also popular and perfect on a hot day. There are plenty of green lawns for games, relaxing or picnicking. Clean public washrooms and parking round out the convenient amenities. With its idyllic trails, play areas for kids, and abundant picnic spots, Hawthorne Rotary Park is a wonderful local oasis for Surrey residents. It's just the spot for a refreshing weekend outing with the whole family. We'll definitely be back to enjoy more of...
Read moreIt's a beautiful park, however. For people going with children, be aware there isn't much shade for those who need it. It is very overpopulated. Especially in the water park season. There is a fairly clean washroom available with a drinking water fountain. There is a limited play area for the children. But it's well worth checking out. If you are holing an event like a child's birthday please be aware this park is often going to be a struggle for tables as usual is first come first serve however some people think that means take all the tables from everyone. Please be kinda and share as there are 6 covered tables, and they're broken into 4 groups. Please be kind and only take one. As many families hold their kids parties. As any park loud music isn't accepted and you can bbq with the city approved methods.
Please be mindful of others. We all share this space. Many don't in this park, but please feel free to remind them of consideration and respect, and it usually will quickly fix...
