My gf and i were pretty happy with the experience we’ve had in this Filipino restaurant. It’s a buffet every friday with live music but the location is not great and decor could improve. The only disappointing part was when i got home and checked the bill i was charged extra $5 for wasted food left on our plate. We are not a big eater, What we ate at their buffet wasn’t even worth $40 for both of us but they charged $30 each for their buffet. We just wanted to try the place if it’s gonna be worth it!!! We have been to many buffets and left food on our plates but never ever we got charged extra despite of their rules. Maybe because they still make money despite of little wasted food. Imagine i have paid total of $82 including the tip. If we have just ordered in a regular menu there would be lots of left over that we could have just brought it home without getting extra charged, is that make sense??? What we ate wasn’t worth $82 at all and they made more money out of us for charging us more money!!! If i would have checked my bill on the spot I wouldn’t have given them a tip!!! Very disappointing!!! So I really don’t know if i will continue to support their business!!! I feel like they take advantage of...
Read moreAs a chef myself, I’m very particular about flavor, texture, and overall food quality. But this place truly made me happy to the max! The food? Absolutely delicious. We ordered the crispy pata, and it was perfectly done super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Their sisig? So flavorful, chewy, and tasty. Even the bulalo was excellent the meat was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. And let’s talk about the star of the show: their halo-halo! They did not skimp on ingredients. Everything in it was generous and well-balanced, and the custard was incredibly creamy and rich probably one of the best halo-halo I’ve ever had. Now for the customer service 5 stars! The lady working that night was amazing and so kind. She even offered us free rice, which was such a thoughtful touch. We arrived around 7 PM, and when she overheard my daughter say she was hungry, she immediately went to the kitchen to check on our food and served it as quickly as possible. That kind of attentiveness really stood out to me. I’m truly impressed both by the quality of the food and the warmth of the service. Can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend Kain Ulam if you’re looking for authentic, satisfying, and heartwarming...
Read moreMe, my wife and a friend was here for lunch on a Saturday. Surprisingly, we were the only customers at that moment. We ordered a PAMILYA COMBO which consists of sisig, lechon kawali, pancit sotanghon (?) and a bowl of steamed rice good for 4 persons (?). We also ordered chop seuy to supplement our orders with veggies. The service was quick and we had our food on our table in exactly 13 mins wait.
The lechon kawali and the sisig was flavorful and tender unlike some I know which is commonly chewy and dry. The dipping sauce (vinegar & lechon gravy) was also served.
The pancit was spot on. I just wonder about the noodles since I cannot figure if it's bihon or sotanghon (glass noodles). Chop seuy is great and nothing to complain about.
Food portions are just about right. It really depends on who's eating and your appetite.
The dinning experience was pleasant with a background music videos playing on the side. Not annoying and loud.
With reasonable prices to offer, this restaurant will have you a pleasant dinning experience. The owner/hostess made sure we're having a good time and had us for a short friendly chat.
Looking forward to dining here again...
