Honestly, I had very low expectations of this place just based on the many other arcades I've been to with my kids in the last 15 yrs or so. And not just in the lower mainland. But my 6 yr old and I legitimately had a BLAST. There is so much to do here and everything is in working order, clean, and well spaced out. We played a round of mini golf, roller skated and roller bladed, played lots of arcade games and also the VR game. The only thing we didn't play was bowling. I bought a $50 game card and then reloaded it with $30 a couple hours later and that was just right for the two of us. They had so many different games. And tons of air hockey tables unlike some arcades with one in the whole place. There were many games I could play with my son and room for others. So I would definitely come back with my husband and daughter next time as well.
In terms of staff interaction, we did have a few. Getting into mini golf, they let us choose the colour of the golf ball we wanted. If you're 6, you know how important that is. The staff member at the roller skate rink was super polite and allowed us to try both roller skates and rollerblades. We never felt like we were being pressured to leave and there was a good flow of traffic. One of the games malfunctioned and I ran over to the front desk and someone refunded me the credit right away and sent someone over to look at the machine. When we wanted to play the VR game, there was no one at thr station at that moment so again we went to the front desk and they came over right away to help us get set up. The staff member patiently waited for the game to start to then go back to help my son adjust his gear again and sent him on his way. I thought that was really helpful instead of just walking away, they actually followed up to make sure everything was good so that you're not wasting credits not knowing how to play.
While we didn't purchase any food, there was a concession with pizza think for a personal size it was maybe $12 or less and kids one topping was $6. Totally fair pricing.
Also, the washrooms were well maintained! Clean, soap worked, paper towels work😅 I laugh, but if you only knew how many times I've been at an arcade in a washroom with no more soap or a paper towel dispenser that doesn't dispense or just completely out.
The ONLY thing I would say that I wasn't hugely in love with was their prize centre. I wish they had more options in the 2-500 range. There were a lot of candy options but wasn't really our thing. I feel like with how accessible buying from places like aliexpress now, arcades could find some cooler toy options at the same price as some of the typical arcade prizes (bouncy balls, plane kits, plastic rings). Anyways, didn't really matter, my son said he was going to bank his points for another time. And we will definitely be coming back!
100% worth the drive...
Read moreReally fun arcade games, ticket system with prizes. Small little mini golf course as well. Mini bowling and skate rink as well. Air ventilation and airflow is fantastic; not sweaty or muggy despite it being crowded. They have pizza and hot dogs and drinks also.
MONEY/TOKEN/TICKETS: Card system where you put money on a card and you swipe the card on machines and such to use those credits. Your ticket winnings are counted on the card as opposed to physical tickets. Prizes range from candy to stickers to small toys and trinkets to bigger things like large plushies and kid skateboards.
ARCADE (5/5): Lots of really fun games. Some classics, some new, vr shooters too. Most if not all reward with ticket credit I believe. 2 crane games, one type has ticket rolls (25-100 per roll) and another had hand balls. I do hope they add more machines in the future. Their selection is decent though it could use more.
MINI GOLF(3/5): Very basic and minimal, 8 courses, a fun addition nonetheless. It is sectioned off behind a barrier but may have an issue with unsupervised children that run through your courses or kick your golfballs. It's blocked off by a paywall and an employee but kids can use their credits to enter without knowing how to play or knowing what they're doing is not right, unfortunately.
MINI BOWLING(4/5): The lanes are just a bit smaller than your average bowling lanes and the weighted balls are small, similar to skee-balls if not a little bigger. 4 Players each with a screen to log the rounds, points, and names etc. There is an issue with the ball getting caught behind a barrier behind the pins, you'll have to ask an employee to assist. Other than that, very fun with long rounds.
SKATE RINK (1/5): I would NOT waste your credits/money here. I don't know why it is but all the skates/rollerblades are poorly fitted or malformed. There is no grip around the ankles for any size. It was apparent that we were not the only ones as 80-90% of those skating were clinging to the rails or visibly trying to keep their ankles straight (we were a group of 8 of mixed genders and heights and we all couldn't use our pairs of skates/blades. 2 of us regularly skate as well) I did notice one brand/design of rollerblades out of the 4 total types of skates/blades were...
Read moreCentral City Fun Park has really outdone itself with a recent expansion, adding more space and a fantastic variety of new games and attractions. It’s a place that kids absolutely love, and with the added games, there's even more to explore! Families can easily spend a full evening here, making memories, enjoying the rides, and participating in fun activities that cater to kids of all ages. The new games and larger park layout provide a great mix of excitement, fun, and engagement for families looking to have a memorable outing.
However, while the park experience is amazing, I had a less-than-ideal encounter with the cashier service. It’s important for visitors to make sure they receive a receipt after topping up game cards, as there seems to be a recurring issue with the system occasionally not topping up properly. When I experienced this issue and returned to the cashier counter, I was met with a frustrating experience. Not only did they ask an excessive number of questions instead of addressing the problem efficiently, but they also hadn’t provided a receipt in the first place, which made resolving the issue more challenging. In particular, one gentleman working on Sunday, October 27th, 2024, at around 7:15 pm, handled the situation poorly, leaving me with a very negative impression of the cashier service.
Despite this issue, Central City Fun Park is still a highly recommended destination for families looking for an evening of fun and adventure. The park itself is vibrant, safe, and packed with games that will keep kids entertained for hours. The recent improvements have made it an even more enjoyable place to visit, and it’s clear the park put in a lot of thought to make it ideal for family outings.
If the cashier service could improve, particularly by training staff to be more responsive and helpful with customer concerns, it would greatly enhance the overall experience. A simple policy of providing receipts as standard practice would go a long way in preventing these issues. Nevertheless, Central City Fun Park remains a fantastic place for family fun, and I hope to see continued improvements in the customer service...
