Just moved to South Surrey a few months ago and have been wanting Chinese. Hesitant as the few Chinese places in the area don’t have a lot of good reviews. Was thinking of trying another establishment closer to us but didn’t want to pay nearly $100 for 4 dishes so opted to try KW at a more reasonable cost of under $70 for the same dishes. Ordered chicken chow mein, sweet n sour pork, lemon chicken and pork foo yung. The chow mein was decent, no complaints and lots of it, the pork foo yung has lots of flavour with the gravy/sauce and is a large portion, the chicken is a generous portion too and the lemon sauce was lemony. We were only disappointed with the s&s pork, small dish and lacked the sweet n sour flavour though it did have a tasty pork flavour. We have had way worse in lack of flavour from other places we have tried in the past. If the pork actually had flavourful sauce and switched with the foo yung container, I would probably give this place 5 stars. Can’t say anything about atmosphere as it was take out but it looks nice inside. Only interacted with a lady on the phone and a young man when I picked up so can’t say much about service either, just that they were polite when interacting with them. Would order...
Read moreWe were looking for chinese food for New Year's Eve in the South Surrey area and this restaurant was recommended. I placed our order on-line and because I was picking it up received a 10% discount. I arrived at 6 pm (my requested time) to find a bit of a lineup. It took no time at all before it was my turn and that was due to the two young women that were handling people picking up, phone calls and even delivering food to the few in-house diners. I did have to wait for a few minutes and that gave me an opportunity to observe how very efficiently things were being run. That's why the 5 stars for service! The food was good but not the very best I've ever had (hence the 3 stars) and also because no condiments or fortune cookies were included in the take out. I believe fortune cookies were on the menu for a charge but it would have been nice, particularly since my order was for over $100 and that it was...
Read moreI recently visited KW Gardens and ordered a total of 10 dishes. I used to frequent Golden Lion, but with their prices having risen significantly, I decided to try KW Gardens due to their more affordable options.
The veggie fried rice and chicken fried rice were standard and met expectations. My top picks were the deep-fried prawns with sweet and sour sauce and the lemon chicken; both were delicious. The beef and broccoli in black bean sauce was also noteworthy.
However, the veggie chow mein was underwhelming, and the sweet and sour boneless pork was particularly disappointing. The deep-fried squid was okay, though I prefer Golden Lion’s version, even with their higher prices.
Overall, KW Gardens offers decent Chinese food. I would consider returning to try other dishes and would reorder the sweet and sour deep-fried prawns, beef and broccoli with black bean sauce, and...
