Got the veggie deluxe platter which included 3 falafel, fried eggplant, potatoes, hummus, choice of salad, pita, and dips. The menu in store said it also came with 2 grape leaves but those were not there. I liked the tabbouli, which was fresh and extra lemony. The falafels and eggplant were too oily. It was good that the falafels were extra crispy but I felt like I could taste the oil itself, and the eggplant was completely soggy with oil. The potatoes did not have the excess grease problem and were nicely seasoned. The hummus was good but drizzled with oil which was the last thing I wanted more of. The pita was the kind you can buy at the grocery store, would have been nicer if it was warmed up. The veggie deluxe plate was about $20 after tax, which is towards the upper end of prices for donair shops. This plate does contain more of a variety than the falafel plates at lots of shops though. The amount of food was enough that I felt full. I can’t really say if it was worth it because I was so turned off by the greasy eggplant that I wasn’t able to really enjoy it. To me the staff was neither friendly nor unfriendly. Anything with falafel takes a little longer because they fry them to order, so considering that, the wait time for my food was reasonable.
Re: owner’s response - thanks for the response. If the veggie deluxe platter doesn’t include dolmas, take the dolmas out of the item description on the screen menus in the store behind the counter. I know the online menu doesn’t say dolmas are included, but if the menu displayed in the store does, I would tend to think the store menu would be more likely to be correct, which is why I...
Read moreYou charged people more than what is advertise on your menu displayed at the store. You CANNOT do that; it is call "false advertisement or misleading" There is a law in Canada to protect customer with things like this. $1.00 more for each customer, you can be making an extra income nearly $5,000.00 per year with just 12 customers @ $1.00 each.
Looks like the management does look at the review and take time to response. I am reaching out from here because complaining at the store level doesn't seem to fix this.
This is the second time happened to me. Your staff said the menu is old and she doesn't know why almost a year old that this is still outdated.
Your food is tasty, good potion so don't let things like this to pull your rating down. I hate to give you a "one" star review but at the same time it is the principal that matter. Do the right thing and update your pricing on the menu board and if not you have to tell ALL your staff to mention this to the customer before he/she add the extra charge on the bill. This way it is honest and upfront. Otherwise, this looks like a hidden charge.
Looking forward to your response and action. Sincerely, Your customer who visit you monthly
Sept 2024 I finally decided to go back ordering for our staff luncheon earlier this year and there has been improvement. Two out of three times, they did asked if it is okay for the additional charge for Tabouli salad so I am please to see the owner took action and make an improvement.
I didnt get a chance to check if they have updated their menu board but will do next time and provide...
Read moreSo today, after putting off going to this place for years, I decided to go here and finally try it. Ordered my food, it was surprisingly busy at around 2:00pm, which was a good sign I thought. Order the lamb wrap (Beirut vibe) because I like my wraps without lettuce, got my order, went to my car to eat........and soon had a very interesting experience.
While opening my wrap, a small piece of lamb fell out and landed on my wrap. Picked it up and put it in my mouth without a thought........when suddenly I had the Ratatouille movie experience where the food critic, upon tasting the food was suddenly transformed back to his childhood. That one bite of the lamb brought back 30 year old memories of my visit to the country of Jordan, where I ate many lamb shawarmas. It is amazing that even after decades, the memory of taste brings back memories long buried. It was so good that I am craving this as I write this review later in the evening.
I have not tried their other items, but just based on my experience with the lamb flavor, I can attest that the flavor is very authentic (at least to what I had in Jordan). My wife was not as impressed as I was, I guess that has to do with childhood memory, but she did enjoy her chicken wrap, so we will definitely be coming back.
Thanks for bringing back memories with a...
