Yo I think this place might be quintessentially the definition of a "mid" coffee joint. To begin with, customer service is just okay. They do this thing where the server gives you the coffee to your hand, which is nice, but you feel like them taking your order is a favor being done to you. So, it's like nice elements but overall feel like I get better customer service at other coffee joints.
The coffee itself did not taste good. I'm not a coffee aficionado by any means but the after taste it leaves leaves lingers in your mouth in a not good way for quite some time. I got the Mocha, which is supposed to have some sweeter, chocolatey elements infused with coffee, but it left much to be desired. It kind of reminded me of either older coffee beans, the ground coffee remaining at the end of your machine when you're making coffee, or beans that have been lightly re-used (the after taste again). Honestly, Mocha is my go to drink at a lot of coffee shops and this one wasn't good. Also, this place didn't have flavor shots to enhance the coffee if needed. Maybe we asked for a caramel and that one in particular wasn't there but others were, but again customer service felt lacklustre so there was no back and forth or suggestions so I wouldn't know, it felt like me placing my order was a privilege. I don't want this to only be negative, so I'll suggest the team to look into their coffee taste, smoothness, and drink blending for their sweeter options like Mocha.
The place isn't cheap. Prices are on the expensive side, and they source their beans from what seems to be strong locations so this left me surprised. But, in terms of pricing, you kind of know what you're getting into when you walk in and see a $110 not great looking hoodie for sale. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if I liked the coffee though.
Other areas that would've given some bonus points - the ingredients used in pastries are shown which is nice, but unclear on what dietary preferences it could help meet. For Surrey, for example, it would be nice if those that are vegetarian friendly are clearly labelled.
However, the ambience, decor, and seating areas are quite nice. Definitely a more upscale location (as reflected in the prices) and I can't speak to the dine I experience. But I think it's a place that looks quite nice and they put a lot of thought and effort into it which is awesome.
All in all, as mentioned earlier, I'd say it's Mid. I don't think I'd go back unless changes were made hence the lower stars. There are some elements going for it but also quite a few drawbacks. Frankly speaking, for the prices, I...
Read moreOverall, the coffee is decent and pastries are dependent of the day. This is my third time here and the almond croissant was different that I had it last week and dry and coffee is bitter compared to others I don’t mind it but in case you want a less bitter coffee. The cookies are good as I tried that before and their BLT is good I had it last week.
Overall, The noise levels are way too much at 830am I am surprised and taken back why a coffee shop would have blasting music that early? I tried to locate a quiet seat but it is music all around even outside in the patio. I asked if the music could be turned down and I don’t think it can which makes it even worse or no one was available to do so. Even the last week when I came around 10am it was very overpowering music. I even understand mid day for the music to be loud but it is not a quiet relaxed coffee atmosphere because the music is so loud and loud beats.
The service is hit and miss as well and a bit confusing when you are supposed to get your order: it is nice they drop your coffee at your table but the process seems a bit confusing and today it seemed like they were short staffed and I felt like the employee was overwhelmed.
The parking is something else to consider today I found available parking but it is paid parking if you go when it is more busy. It is always busy too last time I went there was a huge line too and today it was less busy but the noise levels were way too much. That is why I came early but didn’t stay for long.
Overall, it’s unique because it is new in the area but if you are looking to get work done or have some quiet time it’s not the place to be. Some things are better than others just hope you go...
Read moreI heard about Nemesis opening a new location in Surrey, I have to try this one after my visit to the other locations. My experience? Eh! Not the best I'd say but may be it's new that's why.. no idea. For food was okayish. Drinks were good, therefore 4⭐️. But the service was slow. There was just a guy who was trying his best to get the orders. First impression, lineup till outside. I worked in a restaurant, so can tell for sure you need either multiple order takers or fast order takers. No one likes to wait more than 5 minutes for a cup of coffee. No doubt the drink I had was good at taste but the lineup took away the enjoyment of my drink. Last I'll talk about the atmosphere. It was a cherry on top. Service was quick while SERVING ORDERS(3⭐️ because of this, otheriwse 2⭐️), I got my order in a few minutes which was good. But as I was sipping my coffee with my friend, all of a sudden the heat system started and it became so hot. I was sitting by the window. Unfortunately, the heat vent was right underneath the table where I was sitting, and believe me at one point it felt like the heat is to push us to finish our drink quickly and get out of there. May be it's just me but it felt that way. Tried to get hold of a server but the store was busy so hardly anyone was available, and I undertook that it is a new opening. So, me and my friend decided to finish our drinks quickly and run out of there. On the way out, two more people said the same thing while leaving so I guess it was not just me.
I've been to other Nemesis locations and I love it, so I'd give this location some time before trying again. There is always room for improvement, keep up! Thanks for...
