This has got to be one of my worst experiences ever in a pho restaurant. I’ve been to many many pho places but this has got to be the worst. Upon arriving there is no actual appealing interest to want to stay at the restaurant. I figured it could be one of those places that don’t look very good but taste great. I ordered number 16 to which in my surprise the portions were not as a typical large bowl of pho would be, the broth was honestly just a mild beef bone broth taste no actual flavourfulness to the soup in itself. There was one piece of tendon in the soup, no notice of any tripe and 3 small pieces of steak slices. The soup was not worth continuing to keep giving it a try. We also ordered a coconut bubble tea which tastes like powdered milk and no actual notice of coconut Flavor. I expressed my opinion on how I wasn’t happy with the quantity and quality of the soup where the lady said this is what they served and that’s as that. I told her I didn’t feel that the soup was good enough for me to continue making up my mind wether I like it enoug to finish it let alone have to pay for the bowl (keeping in mind I tried a spoon of just the broth). I told her he drink wasn’t very good either but I’d pay for it. She told me to leave and just go from the restaurant. Surprised by her form of speaking but we agreed. The older man with glasses began screaming at us “NO YOU PAY COME BACK ER AND YOU PAY” I told him well pay for the drink but I’m not paying for the soup. He continued to yell at me as I paid for the drink. I told him can I just pay for the drink and go. He put in the debit and continued to complain and when the transaction was done he yelled at us to leave while I was waiting for my reciept. When I told him I wanted my reciept he printed it and slammed it down on the counter. I told him that his customer service was not good. As I left I wrote the name of the restaurant down and the lady of the place ran out with her cell phone and began recording as we left the premises. Immediately I called the non-emergency line to file a report against the owners of the business. I would NOT recommend anyone to even hesistate to consider trying this place the food is awful the customer service is office and FYI there are bugs in the place. This is a prewarning to anyone looking to consider...
Read moreTry this bright, clean and yummy family restaurant for:
Very good phó (closest Western equivalent: oxtail soup) and fresh fruit drinks. I had their very popular beef combo phó—thin-sliced lean brisket, beef ball(sic) and stewed tendon. I declined extra rice noodles for $7 but was surprised by the generous size of the initial portion. For dessert, fresh passionfruit and lemon juice was my high vitamin C pick.
(One recommends connecting hopefully daily vitamin C intake with protein sources and the B vitamins usually found therein for metabolic reasons.)
Otherwise I have limited experience with their menu, but I definitely want to return, and since there is a good supermarket I could shop regularly—I think that market will be my excuse to revisit often although there is another, closer, grocery store—and I'll likely update this review if anything changes.
Note, due the high cost of fresh beef tendon which they buy by the case at over $100 per, they have limited the portionif that item somewhat, but I really appreciated the owners openess in explaining why.
Tendon is obviously an excellent primary source of collagen, BtW, with a lengthy cooking time, so restaurants that serve such serve a 'healthy food'.
One of my pet peeves in food preparation is the amount if waste. If not for Asian restaurants, most tendon if not in the middle of an unusual cut, would be 'discarded' for feedstock or maybe even wasted!
Eat gratefully and for good physical and...
Read moreI came with my friend to have lunch together after our morning workouts. We’re both petite and weren’t very hungry, so we ordered two whole salad rolls and a large-sized noodle soup to share. The owner informed us that they don’t provide extra bowls for sharing unless you're a senior or a minor. We were surprised and didn’t fully understand, so she eventually agreed to give us one this time, but said it wouldn’t happen again. However, the extra bowl we received was tiny, barely fitting two scoops of noodles.
It was definitely an unpleasant experience, and we left feeling disappointed and dissatisfied with their service. We don’t think we’ll visit again. We understand that business owners are facing tough times, but customers are too. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my...
