Second Cup Café — Restaurant in Surrey

I was actually pretty impressed with this cafe inside Surrey Memorial Hospital. Second Cup is a national chain but there aren’t many locations left in the Lower Mainland. The staff was friendly and energetic, which was a welcome deviation from the lacklustre service I’ve come to expect at big chains. I got an energy loaf and an iced pink chai. The energy loaf, which they warmed up for me, was good with lots of fruit and seeds inside. It must have been oily or something because my fingers got very “wet” holding it, but the texture was good when I was actually eating it. I was familiar with the term “pink chai” used to refer to Kashmiri pink chai, so at first I thought that’s what this was, but this was actually not that but a strawberry flavoured iced chai latte, which still sounded interesting to me and was very tasty. I purchased a coffee and scone this morning as I was leaving the hospital, ~0900. I did not heat the scone and it was terribly dry. My coffee was excessively hot, which isn't always a bad thing. However, in this instance it was a bad thing as when I tried to put it down into my car's cup holder, the lid popped off pouring scalding coffee all over my hands and car. I had intentionally sealed the lid on the cup when it was handed to me at the counter; the cup provided had a defect - a bend - that prevented the lid from staying on. Very...
