BE FORWARNED: A visit once to this place will be extremely addictive and warrant many visits every month! By sheer stroke of luck, we landed on this hidden gem when we planned to have our midweek dinner and you know what we literally landed on a culinary treasure which is so authentic like the heat of the sun and so genuine like the smile of a child! Completely honest and extremely tasty and excellent value for the money! Place is very unassuming from outside with very modest presence in the social media too but highly hightech and very charming interior, with absolutely immaculate and efficient service! No words to praise the quality and taste of all food items! If you want the most genuine variety and taste of all the South Indian food items, then you don’t have to look anywhere else, come straight to this place! This will not cease to amaze you. Very busy every day and you may book your seats by joining the waitlist in the website and directly walk-in when you’re texted saying your table is ready! The service is great with quick and fresh items reaching your table in the logical sequence - starters first and then the other courses. Many places fail on this one. Among a sea of items, my partner and I ordered this time (our first time to this place in spite of living in the neighborhood for the last 20 years - how silly! - and there will be several next) vegetable uthappam with 1 idli 1 vada combo, tomato-onion uthappam, and plantain Bhajji (for the unversed, it’s a fritters type deep fried preparation made out of unripe banana slices dipped in seasoned besan and fried in oil - try once and you will eat every time). Every item and the sides - sambar and chutneys - were so nice that we felt like ordering for more and more. We will certainly keep visiting this place many times in a month and try their all other items, especially idiyappam and parotta. We also wil have family parties going forward. If you are really looking for a genuine and superior south Indian fare beating all others in the game, you pay a visit and you will be richly rewarded! Certainly, like us, you will quite likely become addicted and this will become your ‘go-to’ place for dosas and all other South Indian items. Special mention about Kokila who served us unassumigly and efficiently and later on we came to know that she is the daughter of father-mother owner couple - Rajendran and Selvi hailing from Madurai, the hotpot of restaurants in south India! While Kokila takes care of the floor, both Rajendran and Selvi take care of the kitchen. The speed and accuracy with which both the floor and kitchen is handled is amazing in spite of the crowd! It’s amazing how quick the items are made and hit the tables so fast and so fresh! It’s a model place for any study or research as to how to run a restaurant absolutely remarkably so well! Congratulations to the entire family and the team for this amazing place and we want to thank them on behalf of the community for keeping up this place and serving all of us! We wish you well for all the success and growth! Please expand into catering and big event parties and opening more branches soon! The above review was done on 31st July 2025 and here we are again within 2 days on 01 August 2025, such is the magnetism of this place and we want to eventually try out all their items gradually during our every frequent visit. Today we tried Thayir Vadai (dahi vada), onion rava dosa and rava Mysore masala dosa! Thayir vadai was top notch and so are their rava dosa items. I also want to record the fact those who stay away from onion and garlic (Jains and Marwadis) they do have all items without onion and garlic! This place never ceases to amaze anyone! More photos and menu cards added by me this time. Thanks. Our 3rd visit in a span of just 10 days yesterday (August 09, 2025). This place has become irresistible now for us and we tried this time their vegetable pakora, curd rice and idiappam (with both coconut milk and vegetable kuruma). All 3 items are as usual extremely fresh (prepared on the...

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan, and I can confidently say this is one of the best South Indian restaurants I have ever visited. From the moment you step in, the place gives you a warm, authentic vibe – simple, clean, and focused on delivering real taste rather than unnecessary frills.
Food & Taste: The dosa varieties here are absolutely outstanding. The batter is perfectly fermented, giving every dosa a crisp texture on the outside and a soft, flavorful inside. Their ghee roast dosa is a must-try – aromatic, golden-brown, and served piping hot with generous amounts of ghee that make every bite melt in your mouth. The masala dosa was equally impressive, filled with a mildly spiced, well-balanced potato filling.
The chutneys deserve a special mention – fresh, creamy, and full of flavor. The coconut chutney tastes just like home, while the tomato and mint chutneys add a punch that complements the dosas perfectly. The sambar is one of the highlights – rich, tangy, and seasoned just right, not too watery and not too thick, with a comforting homemade touch.
Apart from dosas, their idlis were soft and fluffy, and the vada was crispy on the outside while airy inside – a true sign of quality preparation. For those with a sweet tooth, don’t miss the filter coffee and any traditional sweet they might offer; it’s the perfect way to end the meal.
Service & Ambience: The staff here are courteous, attentive, and very welcoming. Even when the restaurant gets busy, they ensure the food is served hot and fresh without much delay. What I really appreciate is that they take the time to explain different dosa varieties if you’re unsure what to order.
The ambience is simple, neat, and family-friendly – nothing over the top, but exactly what you’d expect from a place that’s serious about authentic food. It’s also very clean, which makes the whole dining experience even more enjoyable.
Value for Money: The prices are very reasonable considering the quality and portion size. Each dish feels freshly made with care, and you leave satisfied without feeling like you overspent.
Final Verdict: Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan is not just another dosa place – it’s a true experience of South Indian tradition and flavors. Whether you’re a fan of dosas or just looking to try authentic vegetarian cuisine, this is the place to be. I would highly recommend it to anyone craving delicious, authentic, and wholesome South Indian food.
👉 My recommendation: Try the Ghee Roast Dosa, Masala Dosa, and a cup of strong filter coffee – you...
