Decent place to eat authentic vegetarian South Indian Dosas. 🇮🇳👍 I ordered the following: - Idly(1) Vada(1) combo (from kids menu) - Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa I ordered the idly and vada only because our server told us there was a long wait to make the Dosas and recommended we order appetizers while waiting. The idly and vada were just ok. I didn't really find them that special, just tasted like regular bread with Indian seasoning. I also ordered them from the kids menu as suggested by our server because I didn't want 2 of each which was the only option in the regular menu. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Mysore Cheese Masala Dosa was quite delicious and fresh. The potato filling was piping hot and the thin crepe was soft and crispy. It also had the right amount of spice. 🌶️ However, I did not notice any sort of cheese pull that you'd expect from mozzarella/cheddar cheese. Not sure how much mozzarella cheese is supposed to be stuffed in the cheese version of this dosa, but I couldn't really see or taste it...so for that reason I would recommend you order the non-cheese version of this dosa and save yourself $2. Nevertheless I still enjoyed the dosa and potato filling. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The sambar was tasty and the chutneys were also pretty good. The chutneys were served about room temperature level and the sambar was nice and hot. I did find it strange though that my Indian friend and I had to share the chutneys instead of getting individual ones (not a huge deal but definitely not standard restaurant practice). However, when the manager came out to see how everyone was doing, I brought this up with her and she did explain that extra chutneys are always free of charge and if we run out and require more we can always request...so we requested for another coconut chutney which she brought out for us 🙂. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service here was great and the servers were attentive despite how busy it was. As for the restaurant, it's a pretty small place for such a popular/busy restaurant and in my opinion could use a bit of redecorating. Overall this is a great place to have vegetarian only South Indian food - especially their Dosas...in fact you should just come here if you're only craving Dosas! 😋

Exceptional Culinary Experience at Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My recent visit to Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan was an absolute delight! From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. The Mysore Masala Dosa was a revelation—perfectly crispy, generously filled, and bursting with flavor. The sambar, undoubtedly the best in the lower mainland, added an authentic touch to the meal. The chutneys were equally impressive, complementing the dosas with a delightful burst of taste. What truly sets this place apart is the personalized service. The owner, a gracious lady, went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Her attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction made the dining experience memorable. The ambiance was welcoming, and the restaurant maintained impeccable cleanliness. It provided a comfortable setting for a family outing or a casual meal with friends. In summary, Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan is a haven for dosa enthusiasts. The diverse menu, combined with top-notch service, makes it a standout choice. I wholeheartedly recommend this gem and am already looking forward to my next visit! *Filter Coffee must try* #FoodReview #SriPeriyavaDosaBhavan #ExceptionalDining

By Far the best dosas I’ve had in Surrey, Im a meat lover and this place is strictly a full vegetarian restaurant. The dont serve any meat. Did not realize this when i found this on Google. But i am glad i gave this spot a chance. Clean restaurant and the quality of the food is really good. We finished every single plate even though we were full. Just could not stop eating. What really makes this place remarkable is their customer service. The lady serving us came to check up on us multiple times to make sure everything was fine. I even ordered items that did not go with each other, the lady came out to explain the items and advising me to pick a certain dish which cost me less then what i initially ordered. Even the chef came out to check up on every customer, asking them personally if they were satisfied and if they could do anything to make it better. Not all restaurants have this level of customer service. They really care about the food they serve and the satisfaction of their customers. Will definitely come back and i highly recommend this place. Give it a try !! You wont be disappointed i promise! Thank you to the amazing staff and Chef !!

We were a group of 6 and had dinner here when returning from Banff National Park. We had ghee podi dosa, rava onion dosa, idly vada combo, rava onion masala dosa, idly podi and filter coffee. We didn’t require reservation and got a table immediately. Food was tasty, ambience is okay and servers were super humble and sweet! I recommend medu vada, ghee podi dosa, rava chilli dosa and filter coffee. The rava onion masala dosa was cold by the time it was served, we let the servers know and they suggested to make a new one. As we didn’t want to waste food and were low on time, they took it off the bill. Lot of Jain and vegetarian options! Didn’t get chance to click dosa photos as we it was too yummy and we ate it as soon as it was served. Recommend this place.. #jain #jainfriendly Note: Idli/Dosa coconut chutney is Jain. For sambar we got one without onions and without garlic, but it had carrots. So make sure before going if this doesn’t work for your dietary preferences. Also, try checking with the restaurant a day in advance if they can make Jain sambar (i.e. with no onions, no garlic and no carrots).

One of the best south Indian restaurants in the greater Vancouver area (possibly the best coconut and onion chutneys thus far for dosai and medhu vadai, in the GV area). Proper family owned and completely vegetarian restaurant as well - space can be a bit tight during peak hours as they are quite popular. We are south Indian immigrants with very high standards when it comes to quality of Indian food be it southern or northern Indian, plus we eat a vegan diet. Having tried a whole slew of restaurants in Vancouver and Surrey (including the world famous vegetarian south Indian restaurant chain across the street from this place that has really good food too), we believe Sri Periyava Dosa Bhavan has some of the most consistently good south Indian food in the GV metro area--thus far we have tried their masala dosai, medhu vadai, gobi manchurian, and bhel puri. We are also always happy to see and really appreciate the owners/chefs Rajendran and his wife, and the other staff at Sri Periyava including Kokila (the owner's daughter), Sekar, Jobeen, et al.

Most authentic South Indian food in the whole of Lower mainland, I have tried so many South Indian places, but Sri Periyava is the ultimate. It transports me to South India almost instantly. Excellent food, such authentic flavours. Rava Masala Dosa is the crispiest ever, Idlis and Vadas are so well made. Idiyappam is their another hit dish. Also the ambience is so satvik, they play Rudram, Vishnu Sahasranamam, Aigiri Nandini during the first half, these traditional chants generate such positivity while relishing the delicious food they curate. Filter coffee is equivalent to the filter coffee I had at Hatti Kaapi at Bangalore last time, I like it strong. This place is a blessing for people with good taste and those who want to experience genuine south Indian delicacies. Do give it a try if you want to experience the true culture and food of South India.
