We have been longing for a restaurant that suits and satisfies the taste buds of South Indians in this part of the lower mainland and we found one with an authentic South Indian fare in the name of popular movie Bahubali - BAHUBALI BIRIYANI HOUSE in Delta!
We felt as if we have struck gold, as we have literally found a food treasure trove - all items prepared very well matching what we can have in southern part of India - tasty, spicy and flavourful - each and every item is prepared with lot of care and passion by the chef Lokesh who is from Chennai! Each item is well presented online in their menu with pictures and in actuality, the items looked far better than the pictures! And tasted heavenly! Portions are large and reasonably priced!
Service was pretty quick and we would like to mention Tanveen in particular, who helped us in ordering the right items and she was more than right! We had a conversation with both owners Sandeep and Chitra who are partners in this chain of restaurants. They have been successfully running for the past few years two more restaurants - one in downtown Vancouver called Indian delicacies and one in Fraser Street in East Vancouver called Hyderabad Biriyani House!
In fact, we have been wanting to go to Hyderabad Biriyani House one of these days and we were pleasantly surprised when we came across Bahubali Biriyani House on our online search and doubly happy as we live in Surrey just 10 minutes away! We were told by the owners that Bahubali was just opened a week back! We don’t have to have the hassle of driving all the way up to Vancouver as the menus are exactly the same in both places and so are the prices!
This review is getting longer as I could not quite contain my happiness in having found Bahubali (just opposite to Saravanaa Bhavan) and I recommend this place highly to everyone regardless of the regions in India they hail from as good food is good food to everyone! In fact I became so impressed that I have decided to have a family party of a group of 15 people in about two days from the day I wrote this review! We will come frequently to this place going forward! There is lot of free parking available!
IMPORTANT ADDITION to the above review:
As mentioned in the above part of the review, we had a family party on February 18, 2024 and what a pleasant experience it turned out to be!
The entire team from the owners to the chef to the food order takers, bearers everyone who was present was very attentive and focussed to give us a world class dining experience! Ours was a birthday party and the highlights were:
To our surprise supporting the birthday party function by not only properly bringing out the cake by the owner himself but also playing clearly the happy birthday song in their music system!
Offering on the house 4 big bowls of exotic cucumber kheer to go well with birthday cake
Gracefully accepting the last minute cancellation of one order (vegetable biriyani) at no cost to us, as we had eaten already so much and feeling very full!
Not automatically forcing on us the mighty gratuity of usual 18 to 25% and letting us to pay the tips of our own choice!
These are some of the best gestures! In all of these, what I meant is whether you go alone or as a couple or as a small group or large, the experience is going to be the...

Went last Friday. The biryani? Genuinely good. Everything else? A slow-motion masterclass in how to lose customers.

$10 Tomato Soup… Without Even the Basics
No soup spoon. No bowl. No croutons. No bread. Just something straight from the warehouse aisle, poured into a plate so plain it could pass for a school cafeteria reject. At ten dollars, you’d expect at least the effort of a garnish.
⸻
The Paneer Problem
My wife’s paneer — twice now, on separate visits — was so stale it could’ve been from last week’s menu, and it came with stomach issues as a bonus. The worst part? They’d already had one chance to fix this from our first visit, and still served it again.

The 30-Minute Leftover Ordeal
After dinner, we tried to pack leftovers. That became 30 minutes of waving for attention, being told to “wait,” and being ignored. When the server finally appeared, she dropped off two boxes and a paper bag — enough for biryani and paneer, but nothing for chapatis. We waved again. Waited again. By the time anything happened, the chapatis were so dry they could double as frisbees. We left them behind.

What I Actually Expected
I wasn’t asking for freebies — just the common sense not to charge for food wasted because of their delay. Honestly, if they’d offered, I would have told them to charge it anyway. Instead, they rang it up and proudly flashed the tip screen, as if daring me to add more to the bill.
⸻
The Manager’s Stone-Faced Silence
I told the floor manager this was my last visit. He stood there stone-faced, as if customer complaints were background noise. No apology. No attempt to make it right. A single “I’m sorry” could have saved the moment — instead, the silence sealed it.

Bottom Line
Good biryani opens the door. Bad service doesn’t just bolt it shut — it hangs a “Do Not...

The Apollo Fish was crispy, spicy, and loaded with flavour! The tandoori vegetables were luscious, full of flavour, and spices.
The Chicken Madras was packed with deep, rich, and warming flavours. The Romali Roti was so light and airy, and perfect for scooping up the curry. The biryani was a timeless dish crafted with the finest spices. I savoured the soft, pillowy goodness of the freshly baked naan. The naan was tender, flavourful and served piping hot.
Our knowledgeable server recommended the Khadoo Ka Kheer and it was so addicting! It had such a luscious creaminess and delicate sweetness to it!
Also, whether you’re craving something fruity, refreshing or unique, they’ve got the perfect mocktails waiting for you!
Taste, quality, and quantity were a 10/10, and the spice levels were perfect!
But it's not just about the food – it's the whole experience. Beyond the food, the service is exemplary. The restaurant itself is a beautifully decorated place.
