A very casual place with lovely service and the very open feeling in this natural materials endowed place. You can see the beer tanks as well, protected behind glass. Nice and shiny metal for those beer. for lunch two of my friends had the fish and chips. I tasted the corner of one and it wasn't bad but it wasn't better than a 6.8 on 10 in my humble opinion.. they're not a fan of fish and chips per se, I found a place in Cornwall downtown just off of Pitt Street across from Melody music that is a real hole-in-the-wall sort of and real old-style but it serves the best fish and chips I've ever had in my life. Both the batter and the fish. this place here is fine and in fact it's very nice compared to many other places. Okay I'll give it A7 on 10 for the fish and chips. One fellow had something else and he said it was fine and I had to hamburger with fries. That I would give an eight and a half on 10 easily. The fries were done very well and perfectly and they weren't oily and just right. The buttons on the burger we're okay. But the meat of the burger and how beautifully it was cooked was absolutely exquisite. I would say that it compares with Burger deville iMontreal where I'm from. And that's a pretty damn impressive Burger. It's the one in Sutton here is half the size but it's also half the price or just about. One heck of a great burger and I'm very impressed. Our waiter was super and while we were all paying at the cash I saw they had bottles very very big bottles of their own beer. I was surprised that the price of over $18 and my buddy Peter kept saying it's a growler it's a growler and I didn't know what that meant so the waiter explained that is $5 for their very big bottle and you come back and they refill it straight in so the cost would be lower. I had a choice of three beers I took the brown. When I got home and try this beer I was both pleased and not. I was pleased because of the creamy caramel brown this of this beer that wasn't bitter but it wasn't over the top in flavouring that's so many other beers go for to make their microbrewery special. I was not so pleased because even when I ported fast it wouldn't create even so much as a little bit of a head or any Frost at all. None whatsoever. I was disappointed cuz I would like some froth and the frothing often adds to the flavour. I'd say my beer was practically flat. I had four different servings from this giant giant $18 + bottle of beer and at no point could I get it to froth no matter how violently I poured it into my freezing cold beer glass. It's still an okay beer but for $18 I could buy a case of 18 that I would probably enjoy more. I suspect that this beer washaving an issue because I think I know beer is pretty well and I was briefly friends with a beer brewmaster, mr. Drew McPherson, and he was creating different blends of beers and you would have a select group of people into his homemade British pub to taste-test the beers. He was even hired from a British restaurant to create beers just for them. I have an open palletand I can appreciate a lot of different things in life that are 1 different from the other and this beer certainly has the basis of a very good beer. But a little bit too flat without even so much as the hint of a froth. And if I was them I would lose this concept of bring back the bottle and will refill it for you. Who wants to pay over $18 for a very large bottle of beer, even if it does have their logo and a nice graphic right on their bottle with their name on it too.for me it's a one-off collectible item and perhaps they'd consider putting their beer in standard size bottles that are easily returnable and if we like their beer then they'll earn it by having us come back to buy more of their beer because it would be that good. Rather than were hooked on refilling a bottle. overall I would give the place a 4 on 5 for their choice of food and their positive spirit and the lovely layout of the place and the fact that they do make their own beer is quite nice. Apparently they're not the only microbrewery in...
Read moreI took a drive with a dear friend from Montreal to the Eastern townships and Sutton Quebec. What a pretty place. my friend was in from an hour's worth north of Toronto and I was meeting to Eastern township friends making it a group of four. One of the township friends also lives in Montrealand now fully out in the townships near Sutton. The other one who is living about 20 minutes away from Sutton even further east, actually moved to the town of Sutton. The to Eastern townshipshad different recommendations and we settled on this one. A lovely casual place in natural woods with a friendly staff and a very open type of setting. Easily comfortable and unassuming with wood and metal and more wood again.. I enjoyed the burger and the fries very much and they were really very excellent. Other people have fish and chips and one other dish and they were reasonably okay. I'm picky about fish and chips as I only have one place I love and is closed and it's in Cornwall or was in Cornwall just off of Pitt Street across from Melody Music. Mike closed his place after years. It was the best fish and chips ever in my life and I don't like fish and chips but his I loved. So I tasted this restaurants fish and chips and it was... Alright was okay. Wasn't bad at all. And I forgot what the other but we are all okayand I was pleased with mine and I enjoyed the company of my friends and the place was lovely and easily relaxing. It was sunny and warm outside and the lighting came in to the restaurant. When going to pay at the end of the place for this from the front door, I stood at the cash waiting for others to clear out and I noticed a refrigerator with a glass door with what looks like homemade beers and sure enough is brasserie brewery brews her own and sells it. I learned the word growler meaning it's a bottle that you keep refilling provided by the seller to refill with their own product I guess. I bought the Brown beer. Back at home when I tried it out with much anticipation, I was actually let down about the beer. Although it had a interesting taste it was kind of caramel kind of molasses kind of flavouring and the beer was kind of flat. It had a bit of a fizz on the top of very little and I couldn't pour ahead from the beer even though I tried the second time with an aggressive angle into my glass. I would call it an artisan beer with an old countryside style. On that basis it was a good beer. On my expectation basis... Not so much. The price of the meal at this pleasant restaurant with great service and freshly made food was reasonable enough for the main Street restaurant drag on Sutton. A few weeks later I ate at another place that was more organically natural food but once again good service. And was a senator and warmer day and the main drag the main street was packed with people as though it was a famous tourist town. And it is in fact :-).This restaurant is definitely located and easy to access main part of the main street and I would definitely recommend it as an easy place to go in the $15 range. So I don't know how I was paid more than $30 oh yeah it was $18 for that bottle of beer and maybe some taxes. So lunch costs good service excellent. The environment of the place quite nice it was also quite empty at the time so there was no acoustically challenging chatter from an overly packed place. I suspect with a lot of the wood there that it would have zorbs some of the echoes of the sounds. The place definitely gets a thumbs up and I would go back again. And I would try another type of beer rather than the brown...
Read moreHonestly one of the best meals in the Eastern Townships. Its very clear that the kitchen takes pride in the plates that come out. Fish and chips taste extremely fresh, with a fish delicately battered around the tender flesh. The side aioli was the perfect accompaniment to the fries that were done just right.
Burger was really good, the flavor of the beef is distinct.
The kids meals didn't disappoint either. The chicken nuggets definitely did not come out of a bag, and the gravy and the poutine is unique with a slight sweet tang aftertaste.
Extensive beer selection, their IPA is clean and smooth with a singular note of clean hops. If I had more time I'd sample more of their beer menu.
Outdoor seating on the side patio is plentiful, lit up for night time dining, or just perfect for an afternoon lunch. Stop friendly, accommodating, and allowed us to practice our terrible terrible French.
Excellent food, good beer, you really can't...
