The waitress was very helpful and pointed out some of the more popular options on the menu. I was a tad disappointed that there was no oyakodon (chicken + egg donburi) and ordered the chicken teriyaki and the dynamite roll instead. She immediately clocked me as being from out of town 😅
There was miso soup included that was served first. It was very enjoyable and a nice opener for the meal.
The dynamite roll was huge (12 large pieces that almost didn't fit in my mouth) and a little different than what I'm used to back home. Instead of the usual fish roe on top, there were breadcrumbs. My only critique for this dish is that I wish there was more sauce served alongside the sushi or a bottle at the table that you could pour yourself, as I ran out of soy sauce with 4 pieces of sushi left to go and it got all gummed up by the breadcrumbs.
The chicken teriyaki came out sizzling like fajitas at a mexican restaurant. The chicken was delicious and it was served on a bed of saucy cabbage, noodles, and other veg. There was kimchi and rice on the side. Similar to the sushi, I wish there was more kimchi as I ran out before I finished the chicken (I enjoy having a piece of kimchi with each mouthful). The kimchi was very mild, but delicious.
I would encourage the owners to update the exterior signage, as it only mentions "Japanese Dining". The menu seems more geared towards Korean dining and while the food was well-executed, it was not quite what I was expecting (such as kimchi being served with teriyaki).
All in all, the service was great and the food was a lot better than I was expecting for an Asian fusion restaurant in the middle of the prairies. I would highly...
Read moreMy family and I went here on May, where my dad made a reservation for 5 to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Reservation was confirmed but by the time we got there, we were denied to come in and told that it’s busy and full. We weren’t late to the said time btw. My family was very disappointed and swore never to come back to this restaurant. Yesterday, my boyfriend and I came in to dine and same thing, we were told that they couldn’t serve us because they are very busy. The server told us that we would have to wait 1 hour to get in and so we came back after an hour. When we came back, parking lot was pretty empty and so we had high hopes that we would get in. We got in only to be told that they didn’t have anymore ingredients and even rice!! Despite their sign showing OPEN still.
Their service has always been bad. Their food is undeniably good which is why I came back after the one with my family but no, unfortunately I will never be coming back to...
Read moreThe food is really bad... the California roll was dried out, I spat it out because the taste was a bit funky. Tempura had a weird texture, the beef from the bulgogi is disintegrating in my mouth into a paste. Very weird food experience... if the meal wasn't paid for on my work credit card, I would've driven back to complain. Also, I need a fork to eat my meal... no fork? Why? What a waste of my dinner budget on this work trip, I now have to leave the hotel to find another meal before I go to bed. I don't know how these guys are in business putting food out that tastes like this. The quality, the taste, everything is just bad.
The kimchi was decent, the miso soup was decent, bulgogi is not good, California roll is VERY bad, weird sugar coated yams were not good, tempura was not good. Would not recommend...
