Let's start with pros: Excellent sunny patio during the summer. Aesthetics in interior design and cutlery Smoked cocktails and good wines. Friendly staff Crispy french fries without having to ask
Cons: Overpriced food for what you're getting Staff reluctant to incorporate feedback Menu incinsistencies with availability Staff during lunch making errors due to slow customer traffic.
Have gone three times: -Once during the first week of opening -Second a few weeks after allowing time to work out kinks -Third during lunch months after menu update to Italio-Gastro Pub.
All three times have been disappointments regarding our expectations. Food quality isn't comparable to price-point in Italy, nor is the Italian food that is on the menu wowing if someone had real Italian.
Beer list is underwhelming, as you can go to any restaurant to get similar or better. Really, go for wines and cocktails if you're going to drink anything.
The restaurant lacks a sense of culinary identity outside of presentation, and the move to Italio-Gastro pub and promotion of alcohol tells me the restaurant is struggling, trying to get more business with familiarity.
Was told by the server that there's a lack of things to do during the day time, which leads to complacency amongst the staff ($6 for three thin slices of garlic cheese baguette that wasn't even buttered or had cheese). Could have bought a full baguette and the ingredients and made it myself.
During our first two times we provided feedback for the carbanarra on how to make it more Italian, and each time it was disregarded, and now it's off the menu.
Brunch has potential to try, though honestly, the foot traffic during the day makes me skeptical. That's a lot of potential overhead.
My recommendation: Become an evening and late-night restaurant and lower your prices to meet economic hardhips, or you may be forced to close down.
Paid more than $60 for this meal with two beers, and the baguette slices, by the way. Beef dip tasted like it used Hamburger Helper seasoning. A chain restaurant like OJ's has a patio for a fraction of the cost, and a consistant menu so you can anticipate...
Read moreI have been following this restaurant on Instagram since it opened and was SO excited to finally try it on our road trip from Saskatoon to Cypress Hills. I had built the experience up in my mind, but unfortunately it fell short. On the way up we pursued the brunch menu ( both on Instagram and on the website), when we arrived we were told that the brunch menu was now finished as of the day before and there was only the breakfast menu….. bad timing I guess. When we asked to see the lunch menus we were told they were out of short ribs, which wouldn’t seem like a big deal but this meant about 3-5 menu items were now not available, in addition to a few others that were out. We decided on the chicken and waffles and mushroom flatbread. At $24 ish bucks I expected more for the mushroom flatbread. It was good, but that is about it. The chicken and waffles came to the table without the miso butter and without the siracha syrup. We had to wait about 5 minutes to inquire about this. When our server arrived she asked if it was maybe under the waffles and wasn’t really sure what we were asking about. We heard her in the kitchen say we thought there wasn’t enough sauce on the plate. When she arrived back she had a jar of syrup and an extra dish for the ice cream scoop dollop of miso butter that clearly was never on the plate to begin with. Now, with these added, the chicken and waffles dish was delicious. I am not sure when we will be travelling through the area again, and I would like to give it another try, but I am...
Read moreI have to say the Food and the Service was nothing short of disappointing. I ordered a non alcoholic drink, made sure to point it out on the menu and asked again if it was was drink and non alcoholic when set down on the table. The server assured me it was what I ordered. To my surprise, when I took a big sip of my drink, it was not min and contained alcohol. I was an alcoholic and haven't had a sip of alcohol in just over 10yrs. I worked hard and long to achieve that, I realize mistakes happen, but I made it a point to make sure more than once that my drink did not contain alcohol. When one of our table guests' informed the server to what had happened, the manager came over, didn't even directly talk to me and at first tried to give some excuse to the drink with alcohol that I had a drink out of was in a cocktail glass. Almost making it sound like my mistake. I was not impressed. I am disappointed and I've lost the 10 yrs of being alcohol free because of inexperience and the lack of care in handling or identifying the drinks being sold. It was a very non-chalant and underwhelming apology. We received our bill and as a gesture to make up for the mistake, they didn't charge my partner for her drink and as a memo on the bill "sorry about that". The quality of the food didn't add to the experience either, if we're paying $$$ for Food and service we should expect care, and attention to detail with regards to people's personal needs and or allergies. We're very displeased with this...
