Attracted by the finely upholstered orange naugahyde booths and brown wood-like table finishes, we chose to dine in. Our appointed cashier accurately took our order of meat and beyond. While the mama in our party ordered the mama burger, my children chose uncle and mama burgers for themsleves. The fact that my childs are neither mother or uncle resulted in zero confusion. We selected a booth in the central dining area and proceeded to enjoy our root beers, both regular and diet. Rapidly my name was called and a tray of warm burgers and fries lay on the counter awaiting us. Soon these delicious sandwiches made their way from our hot little hands into our empty bellies and we felt satiety. Alas a 5-star atmoshphere rating was not possible given the squabbling between the cashiers and kitchen crew as to the finer points of apple turnover preperation and presentation, which slightly diminished our dining experience. My partner inadvertently dipped her fry in the little cup I had filled with not ketchup but hot sauce. She experienced sensations of both suprise and unwanted heat in her mouth region. However, this occured through no fault in service of the A&W staff, but rather her inability to distinguish between the colours of red and dark orange. Following the completion of our supper, we cleared our trays into the refuse receptacles, returned our empty ample glass mugs and made our way out of the establishment. Following our exit we paused to reflect on the sign affixed to the restaurant door picturing the smiling burger family wishing us thanks. We asked ourselves, how much bad do we feel? And the answer was none. None is how much bad we felt. See you soon? Perhaps burger...
Read moreWell I usually don't have many complaints with A&W but I have been noticing a trend. It's that the quality of the food and the service is not the same. I usually come here instead of McDonald's because I expect the quality and service to be better. This was not the case, when we ordered our yam fries they gave us regular fries. These fries were improperly seasoned, and I feel that the service and the food is going down and the prices are still the same. So, I feel A&W is not as good as it used to be, it could be a number of factors, I feel a major one is the employees. These people are responsible for cooking the food, taking the orders, and making sure that the consumers are happy. I feel that this was not the case when I went there, I had a chicken burger there and it was dry. No seasoning, nothing to provide it moisture. I don't feel that A&W is providing the food up to the standard, I hope us consumers and this franchise can work on...
Read moreHaven't been to an A & W for years so this was awesome. Let me be specific - my poor, 2 star review - is for the...."milkshake" and not for the meal, restaurant atmosphere, service (which was excellent) etc. They have some type of hi-tech, all in one - milkshake machine that made this....um...."milkshake?" It was horrible. I mean it didn't taste bad but it was most certainly not a milkshake. It seemed to have the consistency of a frappacino or something else odd. Icey consistency and I doubt there was a drop of dairy in the thing. Is this some type of Canadian, forced regulation that has been imposed to force people to eat healthier, etc? If so, Shame on you. There's more than enough government interference in this country IF that's what it is.... If this is an A & W decision to use these awful milkshake making machines (and I use the term "milkshake" loosely here) then A & W.......
