Two things:
I love bar burrito. The veggies are fresh, the proteins are decent quality and the beans are firm. It’s a healthy fast food option for a fair price…except at this location.
This new location failed to impress. I’ve been eating at the Windermere location since it opened, sometimes more than once a week, and never been disappointed.
At this location, our steak bowl had barely enough rice to cover the bottom, less than a scoop and a half of beans and the same of steak. The completed bowl was barely 2/3 full. Our steak quesadilla had almost nothing in it and was undercooked. Even the condiments were under-portioned (the side salsa was less than half full). I’ve attached a photo.
Wham I spoke to the manager/owner, he blamed it on a lack of training. No apologies, I wasn’t offered a discount, nothing. I expect to get what I pay for, I know what a bar burrito portion should look like and this was a deliberate decision to under portion. That was clear watching the person preparing the food. She went out of her way to short serve us. Even the condiments were short-served. That’s not lack of training, that’s a deliberate decision.
The restaurant business is hard, and you only get one chance to make a first impression. This location failed to impress. I won’t return.
I’d rather drive 15 min to Windermere and get...
Read moreI’m writing this review not out of anger, but genuine disappointment. I took my child to Bar Burrito for a quick meal and ordered a simple set of tacos—no vegetables, no extras, just a small scoop of guacamole. That’s it.
Despite the simplicity of the order, we were charged extra for the guacamole. I understand that guac is considered a premium item, but when it’s the only topping added, and especially when it’s for a child’s meal, it feels unnecessarily rigid to enforce that charge without any flexibility. We didn’t get anything else, and yet the cost stood.
What really bothered me wasn’t just the charge—it was the lack of empathy or effort to make it right. No offer to adjust, no acknowledgment that the rest of the toppings were skipped. Just a flat transaction and a missed opportunity to show care.
That’s why I didn’t leave a tip. Not out of spite, but because tipping reflects service—and in this case, there wasn’t any. When you’re serving a parent and their child, a little kindness goes a long way. Instead, we were left feeling like every penny mattered more than the experience.
Bar Burrito, I hope you reconsider how you handle small charges like this. Families notice when they’re treated like a number, and it’s the kind of thing that makes us think twice about...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for years with no issues—until now. On June 4th around 3 PM, my girlfriend and I came in. She got a small burrito and received two half scoops of rice. I ordered a large, and got the same amount—the scoops weren’t even full, maybe less than a quarter scoop each.
I politely asked for more and barely got any extra. Same with the cheese—just a few strings. When I asked for more, she picked up just a few more strings (probably about 3 or 4) and I was told it would cost $1 extra, even though I was hardly given any to start with. The corn and onion portions were also tiny. (I could probably count the grains) and she hardly put any sauce on it at all, about one and a half line, for a large that is not enough. It was very dry, but I was afraid to ask for more as I didn’t want to be charged for it.
My girlfriend’s burrito was mostly lettuce and very small. Another customer I spoke to outside said he had the same experience. After years of coming here, I’ll be switching to Callingwood or St. Albert from now on. I was very disappointed for having to pay more because the girl couldn’t make it correctly...
