Chopped Leaf — Restaurant in The Meadows

I went to this store for their Customer Appreciation Event, which is being held today (Friday, October 4th, 2024; see 1st image) and started at opening time (10:00 AM). my food was good and made quickly. also, staff were kind enough to let me stay inside prior to opening, which was great as it was cold outside.

the positives stop there, as my ordering experience was not great:

-Chopped Leaf's offer was that the first 50 customers in line could get free meals for this event "valid up to 2 meals per customer per transaction". no stipulation was given about any other limitations (see 2nd image)

when I ordered my food, I was surprised to learn that staff were only allowing ONE MEAL to be purchased per customer. furthermore, each free meal was only valid UP TO A $9.99 LIMIT. any purchase priced above that would have to be paid (see 3rd image for proof; this was my order). again, these stipulations were not indicated anywhere on the poster. -after I had ordered, a few other staff members were holding up a QR code on a piece of paper. they were trying to get customers who had ordered to leave reviews on this store. I tried to scan the QR code, but it didn't work for me.

moreover, them trying to get customers to leave reviews during an event-where they're getting a deal on food-leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. I'm glad other people have had such good experiences at this store today, but something about the way this played out doesn't sit well with me.

in any case, the misleading stipulation leading to one meal @ $9.99 alone is enough for me to leave a 1* review. I'm never going back...

This location needs to be re-trained on how to make the rice, it's ALWAYS overcooked. Ruins the entire bowl because all you get is mushy rice clumps. For $15 you expect a lot better quality. Any other location the rice has always been seperate grains and not clumps. Plus, every other location always puts a pita chip in the whole bowl #3 and this location seems annoyed when I ask for the pita chip even though I was under the impression it's supposed to come with it. Anyway, might seem small but when you're hungry and the meal is ruined it really sucks.

Edit: went back to give the store another try and it's basically $17 for a bowl of rice. The ingredients that are costly they are very cheap with (spinach, cucumbers & tomato). I added more ingredients when I got home because it was basically just saucy rice. And still no pita chip. Not...

They do not deserve anyone's business!! We have been steady customers at this location for a number of years. Visited again last week and the guy (appears to be manager) had such a bad attitude, it was disgraceful!! We got to the counter to order, he just starred at us waiting for us to order. No "hello", no "what can I get for you today".... So after an awkward silence I ordered my wrap..... He then starred at my husband waiting for him to order...... It smelt badly of burnt food..... We sat down and waited for our wraps to be made...... Finally got them and the chicken was literally charred black and tasted so burnt! By this point our experience was so bad we couldn't even be bothered to ask for new wraps..... We will not be returning. Will take our lunch breaks elsewhere. You can't treat your customers like this! ...
