I was excited to try this cafe out, and I will probably give them another chance. However, my experience today was less than ideal. I was hoping to try out their iced coffee, a sandwich and a dessert, but when I arrived, they didnt have any coffee available, I left my review at a 2 star because it was an equiptment malfunction, which I understand sometimes happens. However, the worker also didn't meet my expectations. She was unable to answer my questions, primarily my asking if they were able to make any drinks at all, she wouldnt answer, so I took that as a no. The dessert showcase was almost completely empty, with only 1 nanimo bar, 1 muffin, and what looked to be a brownie. I decided to still order a sandwich. I also tried to order a side of chicken, but was tols she didn't know how. I ordered a club sandwich and paid cash. The worker did not give me my change, granted it was very little, and I had planned on leaving it with an additional tip. She then started working on my food without washing her hands and with no gloves. Cooking surfaces and prep surfaces were not at all clean. And between serving other customers and making my food, her hands were not washed once. Note again that I paid cash, which we all know is far from clean. Id like to give the benefit of the doubt because I'm sure the equipment issues, likely had an effect on the worker, but I have a hard time looking past the unsanitary nature of what I saw. I went ahead and got my food and I will say the taste is very good. The bread is awesome, there is almost more cheese than turkey, and the turkey seems to just be store bought deli meat, I could be wrong, but that's what it tastes like for me. For the $10 I paid for the sandwich, I think it's pretty good, and I would probably buy it again. But this place needs to work on its...
Read moreWe rented Café Ora’s space for a poetry writing workshop, and we were delighted with everything!
The food (not all pictured) and drinks were amazing! On top of having a variety of foods served in the charcuterie set, there were options available for people who don’t eat meat, gluten, dairy, or nuts.
The service was also great, and communications were on par! We didn’t have to worry about the potential of the venue being double booked or staff forgetting about our booking. We were reassured, and we did not experience problems at all as they were very helpful!
The atmosphere of the coffeeshop was also just perfect for the poetry writing workshop. What we really liked about the place is the care and attention to details. With the holiday season around, there were so much decorations in the coffeeshop that created a welcoming and positive mood! Even the pillowcases of their seat pillows were changed to correspond with the colours of the decorations!
Overall, we were very pleased with Café Ora. The participants of our poetry writing workshop said they liked the venue, and they would definitely go back there again so they could get coffee and chill out in...
Read moreStopped by this café looking for a caffeine fix. At the time, we found street parking available. The space inside is quite large with plenty of seating and a nicely decorated atmosphere. Music was playing and the vibe was relaxed. They had a buffet going, and someone who we believe was the manager or owner warmly greeted us and explained how the buffet worked along with the pricing.
We ordered a regular coffee, iced coffee, and cappuccino. The coffee was okay. I usually order a straight cappuccino with no sweetener, but this one had too much milk and not enough foam. It also had a subtle sweetness to it that I didn’t enjoy. There was a small mix-up with the regular coffee, which caused a bit of a delay, but the service was friendly and attentive overall.
They also had some unique non-alcoholic drinks from Sleeping Giant Brewery. We tried the ginger ale and the blood orange soda. The ginger ale was especially good with a strong, real ginger flavor, and the blood orange soda was also tasty. These canned drinks were the highlight of the visit, though they can likely be found elsewhere. The menu was quite large with many options for food but we...
