Coco Bay Restaurant — Restaurant in Thunder Bay

I was deeply disappointed with my recent order from this Chinese restaurant. The food was extremely dry, to the point of being completely inedible. The rice was hard and crusty, while the chicken bites had clearly been overcooked and left sitting under heat lamps for too long. Even the vegetables were withered and tough. Despite the attractive presentation, nothing on my plate was enjoyable to eat. Disappointing and dried out with cracking wrappers. I tried adding sauce to salvage the meal, but it couldn't mask the fundamental issue of severely overcooked food. The prices charged for such poor quality are simply unacceptable. I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone seeking authentic Chinese cuisine. When I called them they were extremely rude and would not rectify the situation. What she said on the phone was "if you already ate half the food there is nothing they can do," but we only had 2 or 3 bites and they then said after we sent pictures to them "you had more than 2 bites, there is nothing we can do." Was really hoping to have found a good Pad Thai in Thunder Bay finally but alas it was as poorly flavoured as everywhere else and around 7 dollars more than any other place. At 25 dollars I more or less got a small amount of chicken, 2 sprigs of cilantro, a dusting of peanuts and bell peppers. The noodles were actually not mushy and were cooked perfect, they were however more or less flavorless.

The staff was very nice and atmosphere was good which was redeeming and suggested more potential perhaps with other dishes.

I'm not saying I would never eat here again. The fact is Thunder Bay has really bad pad thai and I need to accept this. I would try something different next time happily but never the pad thai..

I am down visiting my mom and uncle from the Toronto area. My mom recommended Coco Bay. From the minute we walked in we were pleasantly greeted by a server at the front and brought to our seats. We were than introduced to Julie. She gave us great advice with the menu and was very friendly. When the food arrived the presentation was great and the taste was even better. We all loved our meals. Julie heard I was visiting and offered to take a photo of us. We finished off with a mango 🥭 ice cream for desert. This was one of the best experiences I have had in a restaurant in a long time.
