Great Pizza, but Other Dish Fall Short I recently visited The Sovereign Room with high hopes of indulging in some delicious pizza. While the pizza certainly lived up to my expectations, I found the other food offerings to be rather lackluster. Let's start with the star of the show – the pizza. The Sovereign Roomtruly excels in this department. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy, with a delightful chewiness. The sauce had a well-balanced tanginess, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. Each bite was a delightful explosion of cheesy goodness. If you're a pizza lover, this place is definitely worth a visit. However, my excitement diminished when I tried some of the other dishes on the menu. The non-pizza options, such as Duck Poutine and Gravy, were quite mediocre. The flavors seemed to lack depth, and the execution fell short of my expectations. It felt as though the focus and attention to detail that went into the pizza were not replicated in the other dishes. On a positive note, the service at The Sovereign Room was friendly and attentive. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and provided helpful recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, creating a pleasant dining experience. In conclusion, if you're craving excellent pizza, The Sovereign Room is a great choice. The pizza alone makes it a worthwhile visit. However, if you're looking for a well-rounded dining experience with consistently impressive food beyond the pizza, you may want to explore other options.

The now-defunct Where to Eat in Canada recommended the Sovereign Room and with good reason. We shared the cauliflower bites which were fried in the most delicious zesty, lemony coating paired with a lovely dipping sauce as well as the insanely indulgent duck confit poutine which currently shared top spot for not luxurious and rich poutine I've had with a camembert poutine I once had. The duck is generous and the gravy is deeply flavoured. The fries themselves are mind-blowingly good. To finish of this rich meal, I recommend the Dante's Peak cocktail, it is such a creative cocktails, so light and refreshing, but also causes the same effect as a grappa of cutting through the full-bellied feeling. The service was also incredibly kind, rapid, and thorough. Cannot recommend this place enough.

First visit and we'll definitely be back! We had the pretzel board, nachos and the pizza roulette. All items were definitely a labour of love from that kitchen. We would totally recommend letting the chef have the freedom to create your pizza with the roulette option.. ours was incredible. Quite simple but each ingredient was perfectly executed and complimented each other. The pretzel board came with amazing house made sausage, carmelized onions, a soft cheese, beer mustard and fresh made pretzel bread and the combination of everything was truly heavenly. I honestly cannot rate this place high enough. The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the music is great and not too loud to drown out conversation. A must stop for anyone who has never been.

We ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza, duck poutine, beef lettuce wrap, and vegetables curry rice bowl. Portion sizes were great. Pizza was delicious, the crust was thinking and done very well. The rice bowl also had great flavours and different textures. The duck poutine was pretty disappointing even though it was on "you gotta eat here" by the food network. Service was friendly but the food came out wayyyy too slow. Took a full 45 mins to get our order. We order 4 things for 2 people, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't bring out 2 first and the next 2 after..

This was my first time in Canada and I had to try some authentic poutine. It was delicious and was decently priced. My friends enjoyed their poutine and fried chicken as well. If I ever found my way back in Thunder Bay I'd love to come back. My one minor complaint was the that the mixed drinks available weren't listed and only beers/cider/wine was posted on the wall. Might just be customary to most places up there, I'm not sure.
