Nectar Bistro & Bar — Restaurant in Tillsonburg

We've been here a few times, it's a great little cafe. Great treats, good beverage menu.

We went here last night for the third time, and we took a couple friends with us to enjoy some adult beverages after a week of work. The place was jammed packed, which was great to see. Servers are very friendly here. When we eventually got served at the table, we had asked for 3 pints of a lager that they have on tap, and they brought us 3 craft sours. We didn't say anything to the server as it's an honest mistake, and they were very busy. About half hour later, we ordered a second round, and let the server know we ordered a lager & didn't get a lager, so could you kindly make sure the next round is the lager we had requested. When the next round came, it was a dark looking beer (Guiness like look) , and after sampling it, it was a porter beer. The bartender had told the server to tell us it was a lager, when in fact it was a porter. At this point, we had became a little annoyed that this happened twice, and the server flat out told us 'the bartender told me to tell you it's a lager'. I'm not sure if the servers need to be a little more educated on what's on tap, or if you're just getting back in the swing of things, given the lockdown due to covid. If a client orders a lager, twice, bring them a lager 😊 This isn't meant to be a bad review, as I do enjoy going to Nectar, it's more of constructive feedback to fix some simple issues in the near future.

Here’s the thing, I wanted so badly to love this place because of the beautiful atmosphere, but after a couple visits I’m going to have to give it a 3 star. The coffee is nothing special, most flavors are pretty basic, and my latte was more like a cappuccino. The food is very creative but often lacks flavour and is extremely highly priced for the amount of food you actually receive. The other thing to note is that I’ve been in three times in the past month and while in there, I’ve heard all the waitresses slandering Starbucks, other employees, customers, and their bosses behind the counter. If you want a place to drink great coffee and speciality drinks with your friends than I highly recommend this place!! The atmosphere is second to none in all of Tillsonburg BUT…this was my third time eating here, each time in my review the owners said that it was changing and altering the menus as they go but this has not been the case. The prices are obnoxiously high for the quality and portions that you get. I paid $17 for a club sandwich and it had one slice of ham and one thin slice of turkey on untoasted bread with a thimble sized portion of what tasted like Lays potato chips. My wife and I will never eat here again but will continue to come back for the great coffee. Please do better. This is one of my favourite places to frequent in...
