Amazing pupusas! The best I've ever had so far - made fresh and full of flavour!! I could just taste the love put into making them from the filling portion to the evenly shaped dough. We had their Pupusa con todo (Everything Pupusa which contains cheese, pork & beans) and their Pupusa de pollo (Chicken Pupusa) - highly recommend, simply delicious!
As for the service, it was just ok - the lady behind the counter wasn't too welcoming but the lady from the back who didn't know English was quite friendly. Pricing was fair and average for Salvadoran Cuisine and accepts all forms of payments.
Unfortunately, the wait time was 20 minutes for just four (4) pupusas but it was totally worth it especially since we weren't too hungry - however, if we were starving, then the wait time might be an issue...
Their restaurant is really small with the lighting turned off (which I found to be odd) and looked a bit run-down. There's no wheelchair accessibility to the restaurant and there's limited free parking at the plaza...
Read moreIf I was just reviewing the pupusas, I would have give this place 4 starts. They have a special on Mondays and Wednesdays for some of their pupusas for just $2.50. Which is a great deal. However, I have had to review the other items I have tried, which I give 2.5 star if the reviews were separate.
I have purchased a couple of take out plates. The fried cassava with pork (chicharrón) was $10 however, the pork was so dry I wasn't able to chew it. Ended up throwing the pieces out.
I purchased the grill chicken plate, I can't remember exactly but I believe it was $18. It can with 2 corn tortillas, half the portion was white rice, the smallest container I've seen had like 1 tbps of refried beans. This was a real disappointment. A hand full of lettuce, with 2 avocado slices, radish, cucumber and few tomateo slices. Also, 2 little pieces of fried platano. The chicken was a decent size, but not worth the price.
But like I said at the beginning, if you go just for pupusas you...
Read moreI have been to many Salvadoran places but this place seems to have the best variety of food and atmosphere. They also have an LCBO license which means you can drink beer. I love the atmosphere here! Feels like a sports bar. The prices are very competent and cheaper than in other Latin American restaurants. Fast service too! Do not get fooled by the plaza where it's located, this place is a hidden gem! I will certainly return here for sure. Ordered corn tamale which was big, and pupusas, the pupusas were a little burnt but not bad, what amzed me was the great variety of food they have in this small restaurant, it's amazing. Ordered coca-cola so I don't know how their Salvadoran juice drinks taste...
