The products here are decent and I have been a customer of B&A since quite some time. But the customer service has been descending. I am writing this review because of the bad experience that I had repeatedly with the same cashier. Whenever I come across this cashier she would never say hello, thank you or please and that’s ok with me but the problem is this, she would ask for - how are you paying? Do you want any bags?

Above are the only 2 questions she ask always.

If I say yes to bags she would then put the bags on the table and once the transaction is complete she would immediately take the next customer before I leaves the counter and I keep thinking why is she in a hurry and why she act weirdly every time with only some customers.

Today, I decided to ask her to please put my stuff in the bag. Her response goes,

Can you pay first? Feeling not good about her response I decided to go ahead and make the payment. While I was making the payment she responded. I would not put items in the bag when the line is busy. I told her but the line is not busy and the she responded saying this is a self service place. I then have to ask her why is it different for customers why are you treating people differently if you put items in bag for one customer do the same for the next person in line.. Every customer has to be treated equally and I am paying for the bags and what is the problem in putting the items in the bag. If she goes to Walmart or no frills or any department store or even a grocery store is this how they treat you?? Very disappointed about the service and I will not shop from this place anymore. I don’t mind paying more for...

This was a bakery I grew up with and the customer service (or lack thereof) that I received today was BAFFLING. I walked in today after not visiting for years, and I was wearing sweat pants and a simple shirt. I smiled at the lady who was working the cash and she immediately scanned me up and down and I can tell she was judging me for what I was wearing. Trying to ignore it, I continued shopping and headed to checkout with my father. There was a customer in front of us, who she happily smiled at and spoke about products with, and then wished a happy Ramadan before he left. My dad and I who followed were met with the same cold demeanour as when we walked in. Her smile immediately faded, and even though my dad wished her a good day, she kept looking down at the cash and muttered something under her breath. I’m not one to normally write reviews, but this experience stuck with me and made me feel judged in a community where I didn’t think this would be an issue, especially when the lady working the cash was from a minority herself. I am glad that my father didn’t pick up on her rude attitude because I know he would have been pissed. It’s safe to say, I WILL NOT BE VISITING AGAIN. No matter the quality of the food, if the customer service is bad, it’s not worth it. I’d rather take my business elsewhere where I will be respected, regardless of...

Been going for years since B & A bakery times. The new place is more modern, sleek, and clean. I miss the old place though, it had more character and warmth, a community feeling. This feels like just another overpriced bakery now.

It still has good prices on the yellow hot dog buns and burger buns.

I always get the vienna sticks, its not as good as it use to be, but they changed that during b and a times. It's okay for the price, but nowhere near as good as before.

They have some new items now which is pretty cool, but got rid of a lot like the single cheese danishes , the muffin tops and other things. Really sad to see all these things leave. They seem to be focusing more on aesthetic than quality, before the items weren't packaged beautifully, but it was great taste at a great price.

I tried their cheese croissant, was really bad and stale, shame cause it looked really good.

Very sad to see my favorite place end up like this. The owners are still the same and friendly. Hope they go back to their roots and...

Good selection, reasonable prices. Wide selection of baked goods and treats like cupcakes, muffins, etc. The garlic bread and Vienna sticks are popular and good buys-so are the strudels. Dempster's bread and the store brand are priced lesser than other stores. Ready packs of bagels, subs, hot dog and burger buns are available. The bread however tends to go stale fairly quickly so consume or refrigerate if you're not consuming within 3-4 days. There are specials weekly like the cibatta cranberry buns which are a good deal. Coffee is also available at the bakery so you can enjoy it with one of the baked treats. The bakery supplies the hot dog vendors all over Toronto. Parking on the weekends can be tight as a result of the Hindu temple adjacent to the bakery.

B&A Bakery is best for fresh bread (hamburger buns, hot dog buns, 12inch 8inch subs, slice bread, etc). It is a small shop that has a mom & pop feel to it. The cashier in the evenings (south Asian Indian lady) is very friendly always has a smile on her face and open to chatting with you. They have the best prices for Dempsters Bagels and a wide assortment of different kinds. Entrance door is possible to enter via wheelchair but might be little challenging with the little bump in front (see pic posted). Parking spaces are limited, can't recall if there's wheelchair parking will verify next time I visit. They also have Tastee Patties, French bread baguettes, naan, and sweet stuff like cinnamon buns and chocolate chip cookies.

The strawberry cheese Danish is a soft briochy bun that is a steal at just over a dollar. The apple sticks are flaky and just the right amount of sweet. The dinner rolls are very soft but should be finished in under four days or so. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the French bread. It's cut a little thick and can be too much if used for sandwiches with anything less than multiple layers of filling. The butter croissants are perfection warmed a little in the oven. You don't even need to add anything, they're that buttery and flaky. To top it all, the prices are very reasonable.
