What a DISGUSTING MESS!
EDIT #3: Got my refund from the bank. Yea, management didnt budge. Still no answer on if my food was in the trash previously. All they had to do was offer a new plate or money back. Bank stepped in
EDIT #2: I called the manager and finally reached him. The manager was rude, unprofessional, and utterly disgusting, frustrated that i was insistent to come to a resolution. A manager, not open to solving a problem caused by his employees, frustrated that you cared enough about your own money. He said "you already gave me a one star review, now you want a refund" - as if the one star review made my food come back or automatically generated a refund.
He proceeded to threaten me and call police on me, saying "we dont give refunds". Imagine, "911 whats your emergency"..."Hi, someone gave me a 1-star review and i'm mad about it". lol
I use an android app that automatically records calls, and the phone call with him was total duration of 1:34 and was recorded from start to end, including the person who originally picked up the call. i will decide if i want to post it or not.
The restaurant seems like it's run by Muslims. However, his behavior is unislamic, nevermind being unprofessional that i had to chase the manager for a SIMPLE refund. the disgraceful behavior and refusing to take responsibility to replace my food and shout at me in front of his customers is all you need to know. I should have went to Meat Point and i recommend you, the reader, go somewhere else too
EDIT: Management has 3x promised to call me, after i had to call them myself to request to speak to the manager. they have not called me at the dates and times they promised.
I went to eat alone, inside. I ordered Adana Kabob, Tzatziki, and 1 Ayran. I finished what i could and requested a take-out plate. I put my food inside the plate - which included the kabob, Tzatziki, and leftover bread split into 2 (it was big). I tell a worker there that i need to go use the washroom, and requested them to watch my plate. She told me to put it on the seating area. I did
I cam back after a few minutes and i couldnt find my plate. She went to look for it and grabbed it from the back of the kitchen. I took it and said thank you, and she had this angry, disgusted look on her face. Anyways, i get home and it is now 11:24PM as i write this, after eating at 4:40PM. I open my plate.
WHERES MY HALF A KABOB LEFT? WHERES THE TZATZIKI? WHERES THE 25% OF MY SALAD THAT WAS LEFT OVER? It IS my plate! It had my drink! the bread that i cut up is there. What did you do to my plate? Dump my food? Why dont i see the rice leftover? Where's the oil or sauce mark from the Tzatziki? Wheres the kabob I PAID FOR? Wallahi every thing i said here is 100% true.
Why is half my food gone, and somehow in a new plate? Did they throw it out and scoop it back in? from where?
I feel stupid for not opening the plate as i exited the restaurant as i thought to do that to make sure i got the right plate. But it was my plate. however, it looks like they transferred my food to a new plate or even dumped the old food. How do you transfer half and throw out half? why was my plate even moved? If i paid for a FULL order, i should be entitled to the full amount of the food i ordered, no more and no less.
I need a FULL replacement meal because you took the portion i rightfully paid for, and then you didnt tell me and didnt care for the item i placed to be...
Read moreInfluenced by the overwhelming number of positive reviews, decided to visit the restaurant yesterday with high expectations and genuine excitement to try their food. Unfortunately, the experience turned out to be a major letdown.
The service was fine, was seated promptly at a corner table and offered water right away. Atmosphere was also fine.
Ordered the Mix Grill for 2. The food arrived in good time, but that’s where the positives ended.
The platter looked okay; but didn’t strike a good balance between quantity - cost and quality.
1 Skewer Adana Kebab 1 Skewer Chicken Shish Kebab 2 pieces Lamb Chops 2 pieces Kofte Chicken and Beef Doner Bulgur, Rice and Salad Bed of onions and cabbage Bosphorus Bread
The presentation certainly didn’t match the taste. Practically everything on the platter was cold or barely lukewarm.
The rice and bulgur came in small portions, almost bland, lacked any real flavour and warmth.
The lamb chops were cold, overcooked, tough and had an unpleasant, almost chemical aftertaste.
The salad was passable, the pomegranate that was mixed in helped.
The platter also came with a ridiculous amount of sliced raw onions and a half-hearted attempt at grilled tomatoes and jalapeños.
The chicken skewers were dry, dense, under-seasoned, and barely lukewarm. Both the chicken and beef doner were dry, flavourless, and disappointingly cold — the chicken doner, in particular, felt as if it had just come out of the fridge.
The Bosphorus bread had a nice crust but was tough, rubbery, and once again barely lukewarm. I expected freshly baked bread, warm and soft.
Overall, nothing tasted freshly made and with any real flavour. The entire platter likened to poorly reheated food. It was worldly disappointing and unpleasant.
I couldn’t ask for the bill fast enough.
As someone quite familiar with Turkish cuisine, I was genuinely looking forward to a satisfying meal, but this experience fell far short of expectations. The disconnect between the glowing reviews and the reality of what was served was hard to ignore.
Despite the restaurant’s 4.8-Star Rating and over 8000 reviews, I don’t see myself returning.
Ended up grabbing a burger on the way home, which, frankly, was...
Read moreHere's an honest review. The food at Bosphorus is outstanding. My first time trying Turkish cuisine and I found the flavors to be rich but not overwhelming. Service could be improved. Here's my feedback on each dish.
Mixed Appetizer - a trio dip consisting of Baba Ganoush, Ezme (tomato salsa), & Hummus. The Baba Ganoush was smokey, creamy and paired really well with the bread. The Ezme was tart, refreshing and slightly garlicky. It was also parsley forward The Hummus was light and fluffy. Between the 3 dips, the Baba was the best as the other two did now wow me. The Ezme was a bit too strong and contrasted too much with the other flavors. The Hummus is light & smooth, but needed more salt.
Ali Nasik - this is a eggplant based dip topped with grilled veal cube. The base is not Baba Ganoush because they add yogurt to it, giving a creamy and cheesy flavor. This dish exceeded my expectation and definitely made my top 5 foods. The meat had deep grill flavor and tender. As the meat juices blended into the dip, the flavours harmoniously blended making it super savory. I couldn't figure out what seasonings were used on the veal but it was not intrusive or too exotic. In fact, it was really delicious.
Bread - fresh out of the oven and a crispy base and golden top. Sesame scattered over the top. This is by far one of the best house made bread in Toronto. Imagine a sesame bagel with a yeasty and fluffy interior. It goes really well with the dips and mains.
Service could be better. Albeit friendly, servers don't check up on you while you're eating and it was difficult to flag them down.
Atmosphere stays true to Turkish design but the glass refrigerator displaying the dessert and the TV screen menus at the back takes away from the charm.
After reading other reviews, someone mentioned they pay/discount your bill for writing them a good review, I was not offered this nor was my cash discount request accepted.
Another review mentioned tips don't go to servers, I didn't confirm this but always remember, tipping in Canada is always optional; service fees are mandatory.
I will be coming back in the future to try the other items.
Overall, this place stays true to the...
