It's Saturday night and my family decided to try out Yo! Sushi while they're still running their 15% off grand opening promotion, when you pay with cash.

The restaurant is of decent size, with some dine-in seating (about five tables for four and two tables for two). Seating is similar to the tables and chairs you'd find in a mall food court but I appreciate that it was pretty spacious between tables and didn't feel crowded. My family and I went around 6:30 pm and we were the only table dining in but there were about 3-4 takeout/Uber pickups while we were there.

Service was friendly. We immediately got offered menus and green tea, where they came multiple times during our stay to refill.

We ordered: 60 pcs assorted sushi and roll platter ($49.99), Philadelphia roll ($4.99), and spicy salmon roll ($5.99). Overall, very affordable, especially with the grand opening promotion. My family and I were stuffed and in agreement that we could have done with just the 60 pcs platter amongst the four of us.

The quality was good, not above and beyond, but the ratio of filling-to-rice was quite good and rice was made well (not too wet and not too dry, meaning all sushi and rolls held their shape when handled). Freshness was there as well. The Philadelphia roll was really well made in terms of the ratio of all their fillings; but I felt the spicy salmon was lacking some spicy mayo for that heat. I'd have to say my favorites were the unakyu (sushi version with unagi), the yam roll (crunchy and had a delicious sweet sauce), and the Philadelphia roll. They were also decently generous with ginger and wasabi.

Oh, almost forgot to mention that they start you with miso soup which is included with the meal. It didn't taste the most authentic and could have been more flavorful but I appreciated that it came out piping hot and had a good amount of seaweed and mini tofu inside.

Washrooms were spacious and of average cleanliness. No automatic taps or paper towel dispensers though.

The restaurant itself was kept clean and tidy. Their wall art is also really cute and fitting for the place.

Tons of free parking...

We went to Yo! Sushi for dinner after a full day of events at York University. The restaurants Google rating also helped in our dinner restaurant choice.

The location does a lot of takeout and food delivery apps (Uber eats, DoorDash etc.) which means the fish is fresh. Not as many sitdown patrons and we were the only ones that did over the hour that we were there for. The servers were a bit surprised that we decided to dine-in but got over the initial shock quickly and moved to full table service.

They have a lot of standard sushi fare as well as some aburi sushi that is finding itself into a lot more sushi restaurants in Toronto. I asked for no mayo on the aburi sushi platter and they accommodated my request. The fish was fresh and all dishes were enjoyed by the group. The tea for the table was hot and we got constant free refills. The modified aburi sushi was tasty and had some interesting toppings that definitely added a unique flavour profile.

The seaweed salad was the only dish that disappointed a little - it did not taste as fresh as we have had before - but it could have just been the batch at the time. The aburi sushi did take longer to prepare (I was getting a bit anxious) and I chalk that down to the menu modification (no mayo) and dish prep time miscalculation.

The restaurant was clean and well maintained. Washrooms were decent but nothing to write home about. We recommend either their takeout or...

Their sushi is one of the good ones in the area. Please be careful when eating in though. Based on our 5 times dining in here, 4 out 5 times they have gotten our order wrong. Not sure if it’s intentional or they just do not like to cater to people who have certain dietary restrictions/allergy. Asking to remove one or 2 things for allergy reasons does not seem very unreasonable. But yet each time we dined in we hope things would be different and Each experienced seemed to have worsen… The lady who takes orders does not note down any of the orders even though allergies are advised. As for the most recent dine in experience they again disregarded the request to remove items that we had allergies to and proceeded to make our Pokebowl order extremely salty. I’m not sure if we offended them in anyways. We had always tipped generously 20% plus so I get confused why we’re always treated this way. We don’t complain or make a scene when the order is wrong but it’s just very disappointing considering we enjoy the food they serve when served properly. Sorry if this was more of a rant. It’s just we really enjoy coming here but with the multiple times we’ve been disappointed we felt a need...

I GOT FOOD POISONING FROM THIS PLACE! I had chicken terriyaki sushi rolls yesterday, the chicken was VERY VERY OLD. it was very hard, looked & tasted like it was leftovers from the night before, microwaved. I woke up with horrible horrible pain in my stomach, i have a fever, feeling extremely nauseous and my stomach is in so much pain. I took a picture of the chicken from yesterday as It was so hard to bite into and was unbelievably OLD. I just think it is very disappointing to even THINK of serving old food to customers. YES, THAT PIECE OF OLD CHICKEN WAS IN MY SUSHI ROLL. Extremely disgusted.
