My bf was craving some Dominican food, and he wanted me to experience and taste the food that he grew up with. We were traveling to Toronto for the first time, and he had to have this on our list.
We were welcomed and they were so kind to us. They offered free coffee, which I was surprised. I felt very at home here!
We had the Bollito De Yucca, Mofongo Mixto, and the Carne de Res Guisada.
The Bollitos De Yuca was interesting! I loved the melted cheese and the cassava was nice. I really enjoyed it.
The Mofongo Mixto, the sauce it came with was sooo good. Creamy, buttery and highly addictive. The mashed green plantain was good. I haven't tasted it before but it paired so well with everything. The meat was so juicy and tender.
The Carne De Res Guisada was similar to the mofongo. It had a nice salad with it and the rice was cooked perfectly.
I'm glad I had the chance to experience Dominican food. My bf looked like he was back home again, enjoying every bite he took. He wanted to pack the rest and enjoy it at home. It was really sweet to see.
The service was great!! They had a chance to conversate in their language and it was so cool to hear it and be...
Read moreMy wife and I came here for the first time to try some authentic Dominican food and it did not disappoint. With a wide variety of choices on the menu, Cabacoa encompasses the true essence of the Dominican style and flavour. The atmosphere was modern, lively, and very neat, and with their native merengue tipico playing in the background, it almost felt like they brought a piece of the DR here to Toronto. We ordered the Tostones Rellenos appetizer along with Mondongo and Mofongo de Chicharron mains, which I must say were absolutely delicious and well prepared. The Mofongo de Chicharron was a big hit for me and my wife really enjoyed the Mondongo, we both highly recommend them. For another true taste of the Dominican, I would suggest trying the Morir Soñando beverage, which has a smooth citrusy taste coupled with the creaminess of milk, believe me, it was fantastic. We are very pleased with the food and the service was also very pleasant. We will be...

I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and it was a good experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, offering a great mix of Dominican dishes that truly showcase the country’s rich flavors. I ordered the Pescado Frito con Moro, Tostones and Ensalada, and it was simply outstanding! The fish was crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside, perfectly complemented by the well-seasoned moro and crunchy tostones. The fresh salad added a nice balance to the meal.
The service was friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with merengue and bachata playing in the background at just the right volume—enough to set the mood without overpowering conversation.
If you're craving authentic Dominican food with great service and a lively yet comfortable ambiance, this spot is definitely...
