Stay away from this location.
Visited on December 31 in the early evening. Should have know something was wrong with that place when we walked in and it was empty and deserted.
We went to use the washroom first- it was equipped with a filthy toilet and a sink that has not seen a cleaning product in eons. To compare, the washrooms at many Toronto subway stations are cleaner than at this Dspot location. One of the washrooms had a broken door that would not lock. Another washroom with a working lock had no toilet paper or soap. There was unflushed urine in one toilet, and there was urine splatter on the seat of another toilet. Pick and choose the best washroom to use- sit on pee stained seat, or pee in pee full toilet with a door that does not lock.
Then, we tried to choose what to order and had a bit of a hard time, as the electronic menu screen behind the cash kept changing the screen too fast to be able to read. The staff did not bother to offer us a hard copy of the menu, which we only saw was available after we had already placed our order. By the way, the paper copy of the menu is greasy and oily- do not touch it- remember that there is no soap to wash your hands with in the washroom!
We ordered three different food items from the very grumpy staff members who looked like they hates us for coming in. Left a tip as well as we were planning to eat there and thought we would be served.
We proceeded to sit at the table and wait. When our order was ready, they simply put it out on top of the cake fridge display by the cash and left it there, didn’t call my name or let me know in any way that my order was ready. At that point we were sitting at the table waiting to be served. I guess this place is a self serve, if I knew I would not have left a tip at all since I had to get up three times to go up to the cash to get my food and bring it to the table. Why do you ask for tips, if you provide no service?
The food itself tasted like raw dough, completely inedible. The waffle was cold. The ice cream was ok. $75+ gone to waste.
When we were leaving, we left all the plates and cutlery on the table. We got evil eye from the cashier girl as we were leaving. I don’t know what it was all about. She kept glaring at us through the window even when we were outside. Stay away from this location unless you want raw food and a curse from an evil...
Read moreTo sum it up overpriced crepes with rubbery texture. Unripe fruit and terribly made ice cream.
It was a pleasant friday evening, the air was cool not cold and a crisp breeze caressed the few follicles I had left. my friend (let's call her Nancy) and I had dinner at a nice restaurant and our sweet tooths were aching for some abuse. Nancy suggested D spot as a worthy establishment to appease this hankering. Fortunately (or unfortunately as you will see), we were near the one at stockyards. Walking inside, the ambience was peaceful and there were only a few other patrons. I glanced at the prices and have to admit I recoiled at the sight of 20$ crepes. I was intent on impressing Nancy, so I ordered us 2 crepes and we sat down. Nancy noticed a sticky residue scattered on our table so I fetched napkins and water to wipe the table myself. So far, bad first and second impression, but third time's the charm. Right? (it definitely was not!). Our crepes had a rather rubbery texture. It pushed our flimsy plastic utensils to their limit. The strawberries were clearly unripe as their tone rivaled our napkins and tasted bitter. Nancy ordered some white chocolate ice cream as an add-on and received it in a cup, you would expect it to be resting gracefully upon the crepe. She described the ice cream as chalk. I'm not sure if that was freezer burn from improper storage or it was poorly made. I tried and boy was my tongue insulted. This "ice cream" resembles the soap at a construction site, incredibly gritty. That was it for us, we threw away half of these atrocities and noticed other customers that did the same.the whole experience felt like paying an unreasonable amount to be slapped across the face. Perhaps other locations are deserving of the rating, but that night Nancy and I left completely unsatified, I guess that's why it's not...
Read moreDSpot is an absolute gem, and I recently had the pleasure of visiting in person. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the ambiance. The interior is beautifully designed, creating a welcoming and delightful atmosphere that truly enhances the dining experience. I would definitely recommend an in-person visit to anyone looking for a special treat.
I decided to order a waffle and a chocolate milkshake, and both were exceptional. The waffle was generously sized, making it perfect for one person with a hearty appetite. It was rich, chocolaty, and incredibly satisfying – the kind of dessert that leaves you feeling completely content. What made it even better was how filling it was; it’s definitely a heavy and stomach-filling treat.
The chocolate milkshake was the perfect complement to the waffle. It was creamy, smooth, and had a deep, rich chocolate flavor that wasn't too sweet. Sipping on it while enjoying the cozy surroundings of DSpot made the entire experience even more enjoyable.
What sets DSpot apart is not just the quality of the food but also the overall experience. The combination of the delicious waffle, the delightful milkshake, and the beautiful interior design created a memorable visit. I found myself enjoying both the food and the restaurant itself immensely.
If you’re looking for a place to indulge in some seriously good desserts in a setting that’s both stylish and comfortable, DSpot is the place to go. It’s a wonderful spot to treat yourself or to enjoy a sweet outing with friends. I can’t wait to go back and try more of...
