The food handler making the burgers and hotdogs will messily spill pickle juice over every topping, and squeeze handfuls of pickles using the same glove. Its not very accessible for those with food allergies as a result of the food contamination, or people that just don't like onions/tomatoes/pickle taste on their food. Upon seeing this I decided to just order a fish and chips, it comes with coleslaw and a pickle which touches the food so if you don't want that you have to ask for it without specifically. It comes with two fish, which were skinny and decently small. It was frozen but had a good taste. The fries were good and the oil used to fry them was fresh. Unfortunately the fries did not come salted and when I went to get salt I noticed that the shakers were disgustingly covered in a thick layer of dust and dirt so if you need salt then ask for the salt packs. I got a vanilla/chocolate twist icecream with peanut butter dip and it was incredibly messy. The dip was all over, and the icecream very quickly melted through cracks and got all over the cone. The icecream itself tasted okay but nothing special (the chocolate icecream was nearly tasteless), and the peanut butter dip barely had any flavour. It was around $20 for the fish and chips with fries (doesn't even come with a drink), and $6 for the icecream. I was extremely excited to try this place having always passed by on my regular commute to work but I am very disappointed with the quality of the food and service for such a high price price. I am an icecream addict but even this place is not something that will satisfy my cravings for...
Read moreYesterday I went to grab icecream and was asked to wear a mask, I politely refused due to medical reasons. The staff was slightly annoyed but didn't push back which I appreciated. Then came a man who I believe may be the head hancho who again asked me to wear a mask to what I once again refused and explained I had asthma and could not wear one. This hancho who btw was not wearing a mask, proceeded to argue with me over MY medical condition as if he was a medical professional. If he had read the by-law guidelines for business owners he would have known that 1. I am exempt from wearing a mask if my medical conditions do not permit it 2. I am not obliged to disclose my medical condition to him. I come to this place at least 3 times a week with a mindframe of supporting local businesses rather than chains however this is where I will draw the line. I was at 3 big chain stores prior to coming to this location disclosing I could not wear a mask and I was never challenged. Moving fwd I will give my money to a big chain over this place as this man had made me feel like a liar and challenged my medical conditions. 2. Half of the staff was not wearing a mask and handed masks to guests with their bare hands laying it over the counter for clients to then wear over their...
Read moreWell they've renovated. It needed it. Unfortunately that's not all that's changed. The service is slower. There's usually a line up but there always was. It used to dissipate quickly as orders were filled. Not so now. It seems like it grows faster than it shrinks - the rate of orders in exceeds the rate of orders out. The portions are smaller. That's not necessarily a bad thing as previously they'd give your Cardiologist a coronary. The problem is the prices are not consistent with the portion size. Granted they've got a renovation to pay for. The food quality is the same. Exactly what you'd expect for this type of establishment. The quaint nostalgic feel is muted after the renovation. It's there but you have to look for it. There's an area that has counter seating. That's the best I can describe it (I'm sure there's a name but I can't think of it). Unfortunately no one uses it, at least that I've seen, so that part of the renovation is a waste. It would have been better suited to use the space to better organize the parking (what a mess THAT is!). Will I continue to give them my patronage? Yes but not as much as before. They've now given me a reason to explore other such options in my community and, as they say,...
