We recently visited Deccan House for a small reunion lunch, and I must say, it turned out to be a delightful experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance set the tone – warm lighting, tasteful interiors, and a vibe that perfectly balanced comfort and elegance. It had a modern yet homely touch that instantly made us feel at ease.
The staff were courteous, attentive, and made sure our large group was well taken care of. Service was smooth and well-paced, which really added to the overall experience.
Now, let’s talk about the real highlight – the food. Every dish we ordered was a burst of flavor and authenticity. We started with Mutton Marag, which was soul-warming and reminded me of traditional Hyderabadi gatherings. For appetizers, we indulged in Tawa Shrimp, Karivepaku Chicken, and Gobi Majestic – all packed with spices, texture, and that unmistakable South Indian flair. The Malai Chicken in between was creamy, tender, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth.
Our main course included a rich and creamy Paneer Tikka Masala, fiery and delicious Ankapur Goat Curry, and the tangy, spicy Gongura Chicken Curry – all paired with hot and fluffy Garlic Naans. The curries were deeply flavorful, perfectly spiced, and brought a real sense of home-cooked love to the table.
Just when we thought we were full, we went for the biryanis – the Spicy Chicken Fry Piece Biryani and Mutton Dum Biryani. Aromatic, well-layered, and beautifully cooked, they were an absolute hit.
For desserts, the Apricot Delight and Kadhu Ka Kheer were nothing short of mesmerizing – sweet, rich, and the perfect end to a spicy meal. We wrapped up the afternoon with classic Irani Chai, Malai Bun, and Cut Mirchi, taking us straight to the heart of a Hyderabadi evening.
We also took home their Special Haleem, and it was so damn tasty – full of flavor and cooked to perfection. It honestly felt like a hug from home.
The entire experience made me feel like I was back in Hyderabad, cherishing the taste of my roots. The flavors, the service, and the overall vibe brought on a wave of nostalgia. Deccan House is not just a restaurant – it’s a journey, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone craving authentic South Indian/Hyderabadi flavors. Great value for money and an unforgettable...

Pretty sad that I couldn’t share many pictures of the food even after visiting it thousands of times

Read moreFirstly the food is really good. I’ve been a loyal customer of Deccan House, having spent over CAD 700 on their food, which I genuinely enjoy for its authentic Hyderabad flavors. However, my recent experience has left me deeply disappointed and questioning their commitment to customer respect and professionalism. On our last visit, we ordered two trays of biryani and were asked to pick up by a specific time. We arrived promptly, only to be told there were too many orders and we’d need to wait an additional 15 minutes. We were polite and patient, waiting as requested. After 20 minutes, I called to check on our order. What followed was shocking and unacceptable. The person who answered the phone, without realizing that he picked up the phone and also unaware that I had Telugu-speaking friends with me, made highly offensive comments in Telugu about my partner who placed the order to his co-worker. The remarks were derogatory, implying that my partner was being a nuisance and that giving us the order would “get rid of us.” Here are the exact words: “Saava deng*thunadu! Veediki icheste oka pani avudi”. Immediately after, the same person switched to a falsely polite tone, saying, “Please come, bro, your order is ready.” This blatant display of fake respect and rudeness behind our backs is utterly unprofessional and disrespectful to customers who have consistently supported this business. While the food at Deccan House is undeniably tasty, this experience has tainted our perception of the restaurant. Customer service is just as important as food quality, and no one should feel insulted or disrespected when spending their hard-earned money. I urge the management to address this behavior, train their staff on professionalism, and ensure such incidents don’t happen again. Until I see evidence of change, I’m hesitant to return or recommend Deccan...
