Food: 4 Stars Service: 3 Stars Ambience: 3 Stars Value: 2 Stars Overall: 3 Stars
I visited Demetres at Shops at Don Mills for a take-out dessert, eager to indulge in something sweet. I decided to order custom crepes with strawberries and bananas, expecting a delightful treat. The service was friendly and decent; the staff greeted me warmly and processed my order quickly. They were attentive and ensured my order was correct, which I appreciated. However, the experience left me with mixed feelings, particularly when I reflected on the value for money.
The crepes were filled primarily with strawberries and bananas. While these fruits were fresh and tasted good, I couldn't help but feel that the overall composition was a bit too basic for the price I paid. The cost seemed steep when you consider that the primary ingredients were just these two fruits along with the crepes and some standard dessert components. For a premium dessert spot, I expected a bit more variety or creativity in the offerings.
Despite the high price, the dessert did serve as a quick fix for my sugar craving. If you’re in the mood for something sweet and don’t mind paying a bit extra, Demetres can be a convenient choice. However, the cost made me question whether the simplicity of the ingredients justified the expense. It felt like I was paying more for the brand and the convenience rather than the actual quality or uniqueness of the dessert.
I was hoping for a bit more flair, perhaps a wider selection of fruits or some unique toppings that could elevate the dessert to match its price point. The experience wasn’t entirely negative – the friendly service and the fresh ingredients were definite positives. Still, the high cost for a relatively simple dessert was a downside.
In summary, Demetres at Shops at Don Mills offers decent service and can quickly satisfy your dessert cravings, but be prepared for a price that may not align with the simplicity of the ingredients. It’s a good spot for a quick dessert fix, but if you’re looking for value and variety, you might find yourself wanting more. The overall experience was satisfactory, but the cost-to-ingredient ratio is something to consider before making a...

We’ve been loyal customers for a while and always enjoyed our visits here, but after this experience, we won’t be coming back.
We ordered our food with extra sauce, but it arrived completely dry. When we pointed this out, instead of correcting the mistake and remaking the dish, the server refused to take it back. He brought us the sauce in separate containers, claiming the food was already "contaminated"—even though he had just set it down and we hadn’t touched it yet.
Things got worse when we looked at the ice cream and found a hair embedded inside the scoop. It was a bright orange strand—clearly not ours, as both my partner and I have brown hair. Upon observing the kitchen staff, we noticed that no one was wearing a hair net. When I brought this up to a server, her response was, “Oh, they’re boys, they have short hair,” subtly implying it must’ve been ours. Not only was this dismissive, it made no sense—short hair can still fall out, and again, the hair was inside a perfectly rounded scoop of untouched ice cream. How exactly would we manage to open it up, insert a hair, and then re-scoop it flawlessly?
What’s most frustrating isn’t the mistake itself—things happen. It’s the way it was handled. Instead of owning up to the issue, the staff chose to shift the blame onto us, the customers, completely dismissing our concerns and ruining the experience.
In all my years in Canada, I’ve never once found hair in my food, and certainly not seen it dealt with in such an unprofessional manner. Management needs to ensure staff are following basic hygiene protocols—like wearing hair nets—and are trained to take responsibility when things go wrong.
I will be editing this review shortly to add the photo of the hair in ice cream and the date of the photo (once my partner...

Of course we are friends but individual people who liked to be able to pay the bill by ourselves, also if it was mentioned from the beginning we could’ve made the choice to stay or somewhere else .oh no! I said it the minute you guys sat down!!!! Ok I can’t believe 7 adults and two teenagers are all deaf all in once ,so we asked for the manager:the exact words she said:I don’t think she is lying !(wow, ok basically you are telling us we are lying ?) again she is insisting:this is the corporate policy and I can’t do anything! Well our policy is to be informed about the way we must pay for the service we got , so !!!her words become more aggressive and is :so you are saying we aren’t paying. Let me tell you that if it wasn’t for the matter we got together me personally I would not left the place without getting the proper apology to the Costomer who’s been nothing but innocent for not knowing your policy and coming for a celebration and leaving the it’s the worst experience!!!
