I had high expectations for Taylor’s Landing, but unfortunately, my experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish.
To begin, we were seated at our table and left waiting for over 25 minutes before being introduced to a server. In the meantime, a server came by asking if we’d like drinks, so we requested a round of water. They completely ignored our request and disappeared. After another awkward wait, a different server finally introduced themselves and took our order. This lack of professionalism was frustrating, especially for the initial server to swing by and then ignore us entirely.
Things didn’t improve when we ordered off the happy hour menu. Several important details were left out by the server when taking our order. We ordered the Tofu Bowl, and the server asked if we would add chicken as a protein. The menu clearly stated it came with tofu, and when we questioned this, they said chicken could be added. Turns out the chicken came at an extra cost, bringing the dish back up to regular price, defeating the purpose of ordering off the happy hour menu. Similarly, when we ordered the pepperoni pizza, the server asked if we would be adding burrata cheese on top. What they failed to mention was that the burrata would cost an additional $10—completely misleading.
It felt as though the restaurant was constantly trying to upsell, making sure our bill was as high as possible. We ordered water and additional drinks, but when we asked for straws, the server brought just one straw for the entire table—completely ridiculous.
To sum it up, the service was incredibly delinquent and inattentive. There was an utter lack of professionalism, and it was clear the goal was to get us to spend as much as possible without fully informing us of the costs.
I strongly advise against visiting Taylor’s Landing. The experience felt like being misled—waiting forever for service, being left in the dark about prices, and dealing with unprofessional staff. You’ll likely end up paying more than expected, and the whole experience will leave you feeling frustrated and disappointed.

Read moreThis place used to be good but has consistently gone downhill over the last 3 years. The menu has not changed ever and its boring. The appetizers are bland. Last night my wife and I went there for dinner before a movie and were very disappointed. We start with 2 cocktails, absolutely watered down and skimped on booze (how do I know? Neither one of us drink often and one drink often gives us a buzz...these were watered down for sure) Appetizers - fish tacos and a margherita pizza. First off the fish tacos - one paper thin piece of fish in each taco, heaps of uncut arugula lettuce without cilantro or any flavour, this taco sucks and lacks thought, trust me and 23 bucks for 4 simple tacos with practically no fish in them. We both agree- starter sucks. The pizza, we both agree - not bad.
The mains - Moroccan chicken for her, again skimpy as hell as there is barely any chicken/no meat in this, rip off again, rice is cold. 1 star for this plate. Mine- would have bought a steak and shrimp but I'm detecting a pattern here tonight and say, I don't trust this place now so I go with the landing burger. It finally gets here. 2 bites in- cold AF. Salty AF!!! Burger - fail.
Kindly tell the waiter, he removed it from the bill, no issue there. Fries were good. 1 star plate (actually 0) Naturally we pass on dessert.
Nice waiter but not unlike other times everything is so dang slow here, it's a Sunday evening and not busy but yep super slow, as always here.
At these shops at Don Mills there are other restaurants, Jack Astors to Joey's being the most expensive. The wife says, Astors has been good let's go there but I'm like no Taylor's is a nicer place let's give it another chance...bad call on our part. We will not spend another penny here. RIP off and has gone downhill.
How do you get back on track, Taylor's Landing?
1 - Faster service. 2 - Change up your menu(same for 5 years and its boring) 3 - Don't rip people off with meat portions. Sides- an afterthought.
Never...
Read moreTaylor’s Landing at Shop’s Don Mills gets it right every time I’ve ever eaten there. I chose the beet salad because I didn’t want something too heavy and you have the option of adding salmon to the dish so I did that it was perfection. The salmon was prepared so proper like just wow. From the first bite, I knew I was gonna enjoy this dish. At the base of the salad was this really fresh herb infused hummus spread. You could taste that it was freshly prepared and it actually didn’t even taste like hummus. So if you’re not into hummus, you wouldn’t even know it was hummus. You would totally enjoy this – I don’t know the combination of everything was just like very flavourful very fresh. It felt like summer Loved it loved it loved it. I would definitely get it again. They also have another dish there that I’ve gotten quite often which is the salmon with quinoa and vegetables. Their quinoa is prepared so buttery, but crunchy. So, oh my gosh, so good—but I digress. The services grade it was a table for five myself and my ex coworkers. We meet once a year to catch up and see where everybody’s at even though we keep in communication like online and stuff, but we always make an effort to see each other at least once a year and we’ve been doing that for almost 20 years. This time was extra nice because one of the Crew lives all the way in Ottawa and she drove all the way to Toronto to meet up with us. And Shop’s DonMills is a great location for everyone because only one of us lives in that zone, but it’s easy for everybody else who drives to get there. Easy exit off the DVP. This may be our third time going to Taylor’s Landing now so, we wouldn’t go there if the food wasn’t great and that it didn’t allow for good atmosphere for a large group. And our wait staff was really nice. She really made a good effort in being patient with us as we took forever to decide why we wanted to eat because we were gabbing so much. She was very attentive, so shout...
