One day I stumbled upon Dirty Food on Instagram and so happy I did!
My Husband and I always talk about wanting to find places that feel like our “third place” - not work, not home, but a place that feels welcoming and that we love going to. Not to sound cliche, but “where everyone knows your name”. :) Dirty Food quickly became that place for us and one of our favourite restaurants in the city.
The food is incredible - best home fries you’ll ever have! The best Bennie’s. Chicken and waffles are out of this World! Fried green tomatoes in the summer are a must! Don’t forget to order a Caesar and homemade cookie or cinnamon roll to go! Everything is clearly made with love, home made and locally sourced. Menus are refreshed regularly based on seasonality of ingredients. The amount of thought that goes into everything clearly shows.
The service is outstanding. We walk in the front door and are greeted with a smile and such warmth from our favourite Servers Robyn, Joshy and Sienna. They feel like friends. The service doesn’t end there - coffee and water is always topped up and regular check-ins are made to make sure we’re happy with our food. To our delight, they just started hosting pop-up dinner events too - the dinners have been fabulous! (No surprise) Amazing food (as always) and great ambience. Leslie and Jon are running a top notch establishment. Best brunch in the city.
We love Dirty Food and can’t wait to be...
Read moreI was a regular at dirty food and truly have enjoyed their food over the years. Yet, my last dine in experience there was the most horrifying thing I've ever went through within the walls of any restaurant in the GTA. I have a three year old daughter and an 8 year old son & alongside my boyfriend we frequented this restaurant pretty often and always enjoyed their food. On one particular date I noticed our waiter whose attitude and service towards us was very horrible to say the least. Thought it was appropriate to gossip about my 3 year old child in the restaurant to her Co workers and management. It made me so uncomfortable but I decided to confront her about it and at first she denied it, but then she admitted that for sometime now everyone has been talking about how disturbing my daughter is at their restaurant (her noise levels) she is a toddler. Which is fine I completely understand and agree that my daughter can be loud but she is a toddler and at no time in our various visits to the restaurant was it addressed personally to my partner or I. In addition, the manager proceeded to state that my toddler was the cause for their falling numbers in business and customer return and when my partner returned on another occasion for pick up they banned us from their restaurant. I have no desire to ever eat in an establishment that treats people like this no matter how good their food is. Just a personal experience I...
Read moreI have been coming here for years but this was the second time I was made to feel like an inconvenience. I had joined the waitlist around 11:30 in the morning hoping to get a spot around 1:30. I get that it's prime brunch time. My brunch companion arrived before me and was told that there was a walk in availability for 2 but they wouldn't give it to him since I wasn't there yet. I was literally 5 mins behind. We were both made to feel like liars. We ended up taking the seats at the window counter but wow was it apparent we weren't welcome. We sat down and were immediately asked what we wanted to order. I had just taken off my coat. I asked for a tea first to get a chance to look at the menu. The tea came very promptly which was nice but again a rush to order. It felt very uncomfortable. The food was ok, large portions, but we both ordered eggs medium and got runny (which I hate). The food was good but both of us had stray items from the fryer mixed in with our food. The legendary home fries which I came for were a weird mix of over fried and underdone. Then more rushing to pay and leave. Yikes. I know lots of restaurants hate brunch service and people tend to linger too long but we certainly were not doing that. I don't know why they felt were were so inconvenient for eating there today but I will hesitate...
