To anyone considering this place please read this before you go. Save yourself the disappointment, poor service, and tasteless food. You’ll regret it otherwise.

We were a group of 8 dining at Dum Pukht Yonge and decided to start with: Hara Bhara Kebab, Veg Mixed Grill, Chicken Sampler, and Chicken Kasturi and obviously a few drinks.

I personally had only the nonvegetarian dishes Chicken Hariyali (from the sampler) and Chicken Kasturi. To my shock, the Chicken Hariyali was completely cold and raw inside, and the Chicken Kasturi was barely warm and very chewy.

When the supervisor came to check, we politely explained the issue. Instead of acknowledging it professionally, he asked us to “leave some food so he could show it to the chef.” (That alone was surprising do guests now have to prove their food is bad?)

He took back the Chicken Kasturi and returned 10 minutes later saying “the chef thinks it’s perfectly fine as it separates easily by fingers.” I clearly mentioned it was chewy, not hard to break by hand. Then came the most arrogant response “Our chef is Michelin star trained. If you’re not fine with the chicken, you should go for lamb or vegetarian options all our chicken dishes are made this way.”

That was an absolutely disrespectful statement. I personally felt shocked how can you have the guts to tell your guest, “If you don’t like it, order something else because everything else will be the same”? That’s not hospitality; that’s pure arrogance. That level of defensiveness instead of care is unacceptable for a restaurant claiming to serve fine Indian cuisine.

To cross check, I tried my vegetarian friends’ Hara Bhara Kebab it was sweet! Since when did one of the spiciest, masala rich Indian kebabs turn into a dessert?

On top of that, the food though we ordered very little to start with came out painfully slow, dish by dish, which just killed the entire dining vibe.

The supervisor even implied that “nobody else has complained except your table of 8” and hinted that we were just trying to get a discount, insulting, to say the least. If we were after a discount, why would we raise the issue at the appetizer stage and ask to stop there?

There was zero accountability, zero empathy, and zero Indian flavor both in the food and in the attitude. You claim to serve “fine Indian cuisine,” but you clearly don’t embody what India truly stands for: “Atithi Devo Bhava” (Guests are God).

What Happened Toward the End:

Toward the end of our visit, things got even worse. The supervisor accused my friends of “abusing the chef”, which was completely untrue. Instead of deescalating the situation, he said, “Oh, I’m from Haryana as well if you can abuse us, we can abuse you too,” and then he actually used a cuss word.

No guest should ever be spoken to like that in any restaurant, let alone one claiming to be “fine dining.” It was deeply disrespectful, unprofessional,...

Go to Markham Location, not recommending this location to anyone!! We are regulars at the Markham Location and love everything there, food, staff to atmosphere. But we decided to give this new location a try on Diwali, what a huge disappointment it was. First we waited more than 1 hour for our Mix grill appetizer, in the menu the mix grill had mushrooms, baby corn and some more things, we were served something complete different, actual the regular mix grill that they have at other location with hara bhara kabab. We were trying to let someone know but for next 5 min every server just ignored us. We gave up and were pretty hungry by the time and we usually enjoy this at other location so went with it. Next we had ordered the main course before the appetizer still it took forever to come and when we tried to other another naan, the server told us that if we really want it then only order, because our tandoor is full and would take minimum 10 mins, like seriously? The servers and manager even is super unorganized, they just keep shouting on each other to do things, how about you instead just serve us water rather than shouting on someone else to serve us water for next 5 mins. At last it was taking super long so we asked our naan to be packaged, it did came out and I was ready to pack it but they sent it back to kitchen and we waited another 20 mins for just the naan to come back. The manager had all kind of excuses, we just changed menu 3 days ago, and its Diwali so kind of acceptable, this that, but what a disappointment. I have met the owner many times at other location, know how talented is their Markham location staff, knowing all that this was a big disappointment. Maybe going back to their Markham location for dinner today, but never again coming to...

🌟 A Five-Star Experience at Dum Pukht Younge – Thanks to Jasleen! 🌟 From the moment we stepped into Dum Pukht Younge, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of elegance and warmth. The restaurant’s aesthetics are a perfect blend of regal charm and modern sophistication — soft lighting, intricate decor, and a serene ambiance that instantly makes you feel at home. But what truly elevated our experience was Jasleen. Her customer service is nothing short of extraordinary. She greeted us with a genuine smile and a warmth that made us feel like cherished guests rather than just customers. Jasleen’s attention to detail, her intuitive understanding of our needs, and her graceful etiquette reflect a deep commitment to hospitality excellence. She went above and beyond to ensure our evening was memorable — offering thoughtful suggestions, checking in with perfect timing, and creating a homely vibe that’s rare to find. Her professionalism is matched only by her kindness, and it’s clear she takes immense pride in her role. If you're looking for a place that combines exquisite cuisine, stunning ambiance, and world-class service, Dum Pukht Younge is it — and Jasleen is the heart of that experience. Highly...

I recently went for dinner with a friend to Dum Pukht's new location at Yonge and Sheppard. It was a nice evening, with live entertainment and delicious Indian cuisine in a classy environment. A couple of cocktails got our evening started, before ordering from a menu of dishes being featured for the evening. Here's what we had: • Broccoli Soup • Lasooni Tangdi (Chicken) • Lamb Nawabi • Dum Pukht Veg Biryani • Goan Curry Fish • Laal Maas (Goat Curry) • Garlic Naan • Shai Tukda (Dessert) The food was pretty good, with rich flavours, bright colours, and attractive presentation, especially the dessert, with foggy dry ice creating a nice aesthetic. I also had the chance to photograph other dishes. Everything looked great! Service was understandably slow for a packed house but live performers kept us entertained, with dancers and a musician circulating through the dining room. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening out with a friend. 4.5/5.0

Food was tasty, the server was polite, and the bartender was awesome. But a few things really put me off. Ambience is pretty average, with seating way too close together, making it feel crowded. Drinks are overpriced—cocktails are $36 plus tax for just 1.5–2 oz of alcohol, which is ridiculous. Ordered pint of Stella which was basically the size of a 330 ml bottle (less than 12 Oz) and that costs $12 switched to Corona bottle itself lol. The Sheppard & Yonge area is full of bars and lounges offering better drinks at much more reasonable prices. On top of that, they sneak in charges—like $7 for water. The bottles on the table aren’t bottle water, and no one asked if I even wanted bottled water, yet I was charged. Definitely feels like an easy way to make extra bucks off customers. Food itself is tasty, quantity is generous but pricey comparatively. I prefer takeout but I won’t be coming back here to dine in. Not worth it overall.

🚨Stop, Please DO NOT order or visit expecting good food. In a nutshell, below average food. I ordered two items from north york location through uber eats : 1. Kadhai Paneer 2. Kheer(They call it special) Kadhai Paaneer : Below average food, full of food color(may be taste enhancer) and uncooked spices and all colors of capsicum that too semi raw. Paneer was harder than rock. I regret eating it. Kadhai paneer is the simplest recipe they can’t even make it eatable. Kheer: Full of sugar and no aromas. In simple language PATHETICALLY BAD. They sent me utensils along with the order. Only utensils was top notch but unfortunately I can’t eat utensils. Please invest in good quality food resources not utensils. I will prefer mo utensils but a good food. All reviews that are positive are probably paid reviews. I repeat please don’t order if you want to eat average or good food.
