I recently visited The Fry, a restaurant known for its unique and delicious menu. I tried two items from the menu, the Rosé Rice Cake and Cheesy Corn, and was thoroughly impressed. We had the Rosé Rice cake and the Cheesy Corn which costed $18.99 and $8.99 respectively. ## Rosé Rice Cake The Rosé Rice Cake was a perfect blend of flavors and textures. The dish was served hot and the rice cake was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavors of the dish were well-balanced, with the sweetness of the rose sauce complementing the saltiness of the rice cake. The dish was topped with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, which added a nice crunch to the overall texture. ## Cheesy Corn The Cheesy Corn was a delight to the taste buds. The dish was served in a small bowl and was piping hot. The corn was perfectly cooked and the cheese was gooey and melted, making every bite a pleasure. The dish was seasoned well, with a hint of spice that added a nice kick to the overall flavor. The quantity for both was good enough for two people. The sauce of the Rosé rice cake was amazing and it was accompanied with bacon strips and sausages which was a treat for the tastebuds. ## Ambience and Service The ambience of The Fry was warm and inviting, with soft lighting and comfortable seating. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, which added to the overall dining experience. The service was prompt and attentive, with the waitstaff being knowledgeable about the menu and making recommendations based on our preferences. In conclusion, my experience at The Fry was excellent. The Rosé Rice Cake and Cheesy Corn were both outstanding, and the overall ambience and service were top-notch. I would highly recommend The Fry to anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience.

This is for delivery Since we were ordering on a busy night, the soy garlic chicken ($20.99 for small) took a while to be delivered, so it wasn’t as crispy and was warm on arrival. In my heart I knew giving it seven minutes in the toaster oven would really help, but we were really looking forward to the greasy eats so tucked in anyways. While I do enjoy my fried bird plain, the lightness of the sweet soy blended with garlic was delicious and really helped give the chicken flavour without adding a heavy glaze. In general, Korean fried chicken is lighter to begin with. The batter is just a coating of flour, so it doesn’t soak up as much oil and isn’t as greasy. The Fry cuts up the half bird into smaller pieces so you can pick and choose the cuts to your preference. For me, I like to pick at the bones, which is complimented by my husband who enjoys big nuggets of boneless white meat. I knew I met my perfect match: he leaves the flavourful pieces for me and is opened to indulging in fried chicken late at night. Little did we know the chicken arrives as a “combo” with a can of Coke and a container of lightly pickled sweet daikon, which really helps cut through the grease. That light acidity and freshness helped to balance off the side of fries ($5.99 for small), which was surprisingly hotter and crispier than the chicken. Despite being a “small” order, there was a lot of fries and the spuds were also coated with flour to give it that extra crunch – sort of like the ones you’d find at Taco Bell and Costco, excepted jazzed up with a light dusting of green onions. I loved that The Fry uses paper-based containers for delivery. And if you want a fully plastic-free experience, skip the pickled turnip (with the fried chicken) and the ketchup (with the fries) in your order.

I never write reviews and I especially don’t like to write poorly of any business, but hopefully this constructive criticism helps them improve to stay at the top level their reviews talk about. I wanted to love the food but I feel disappointed. I ordered bone-in chicken with sauce just now and not only was the chicken overcooked (and dry), which is surprising for bone-in chicken that should be juicy, but it also was underwhelming in flavour. The “spicy” chicken was NOT spicy, and the other flavour was underwhelming as well- almost like it lacked in sufficient salt? I was craving spicy Korean fried chicken and thought this would satisfy the craving , but now I’m adding siracha to spice it up ! I had to ask google what overcooked chicken looked like so I wasn’t tripping lol. I’m attaching photos of the dry chicken I’m talking about - do they look dry to anyone else or am I just being too picky? Anyway, I heard great stuff about this place so maybe it’s just a one-off. Just please make sure it’s cooked properly and the flavour of seasoning/sauce delivers for future customers! 🫶🏻

Review of "The Fry"

"The Fry" is an extraordinary culinary experience that brilliantly elevates the humble fried food to gourmet status. From the moment you step through the door, the atmosphere invites you into a world where comfort food meets sophisticated dining. The décor strikes a perfect balance between modern chic and cozy familiarity, creating a warm ambiance that sets the tone for an unforgettable meal.

The menu is thoughtfully curated, featuring a wide variety of fried dishes, each showcasing unique flavors and high-quality ingredients. What sets "The Fry" apart is its commitment to innovation. Classic favorites like french fries, onion rings, and tempura vegetables are elevated with unexpected twists. The truffle parmesan fries are a standout; they are perfectly crispy, coated in just the right amount of truffle oil, and generously sprinkled with fresh parmesan, creating a delightful umami explosion with every bite.

One of the highlights of the menu is the selection of dipping sauces, each crafted with care and creativity. The garlic aioli is rich and creamy, while the house-made spicy ketchup adds a kick that complements the flavors beautifully. The variety ensures that each visit can offer a new tasting experience, encouraging diners to explore and experiment with different combinations.

For those seeking something beyond the usual, "The Fry" offers an array of gourmet fried dishes that push the boundaries of traditional frying. The fried avocado tacos are a perfect example; the crispy exterior gives way to a creamy, perfectly ripe avocado, all wrapped in a warm tortilla. Paired with a zesty lime crema, this dish is a delightful fusion of textures and flavors that leaves a lasting impression.

The drink menu also deserves commendation. The cocktail selection features innovative creations that perfectly complement the food. The "Fried Spritz" is refreshing and light, making it an ideal pairing with the more indulgent fried offerings. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, the house-made sodas provide a unique twist on classic flavors, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Service at "The Fry" is impeccable. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They are eager to make recommendations and are well-versed in the intricacies of the menu. The enthusiasm of the staff enhances the dining experience, making guests feel welcome and valued.

Desserts at "The Fry" are the cherry on top of an already stellar meal. The deep-fried cheesecake bites are a must-try, perfectly balancing rich and creamy with a crunchy exterior. Each bite is a delightful treat that encapsulates the essence of indulgence, leaving diners with a sweet finish to their culinary journey.

Overall, "The Fry" is a brilliant concept that successfully reimagines fried food in an upscale setting. It’s a place where comfort and creativity collide, making it a must-visit for food lovers and casual diners alike. Whether you’re looking for a casual bite or a full-fledged dining experience, "The Fry" delivers on all fronts. This gem is sure to become a favorite spot for anyone who appreciates innovative cuisine served with a side of genuine hospitality. Five stars...

We went in right when they opened today. The server never greeted us at the door with a hello and a smile, she just pointed at the table she wanted us to sit at, from behind the cash register; her vibe was a little negative (not a big deal, though).

The music was very loud and clubby-sounding. I was there with my wife and 2.5 year old son - we're an obvious, quiet, middle-aged couple with children. The server did not read the room very well (we were the only people there), so I politely asked her to turn down this music - She said ok, but I don't think she actually turned it down (maybe from like 50 to 49). With the vibe that she had already set when we arrived, I didn't want to bother her more (and end up feeling even more of a negative vibe), so I just let is be and hoped that the food would at least be good.

We ordered a large size, boneless, cheese powder chicken. We were quite disappointed. It was like deep fried battered air. It's all batter, no chicken - seriously, when you pick up each piece … each piece is super light, because there's next to no chicken inside. The entire serving was also really light. I only felt the weight of the plate it was served on. I read a lot of reviews about the portions being huge ... yes, they look huge, but if you feel the actual weight, it's nothing, just deep fried battered air. Not Good. We ate the heaviest pieces we could find, only ate maybe 1/4 of it. We gave the rest away to a random person. Waste of $60. Perhaps maybe we should have ordered bone in? (they charge extra for boneless, though).

They gave us free cheesy corn though, which was nice (and tasty). The fries were ok. The interior décor is nice as well. I'm sure the server is a nice person, maybe she was just having a bad day. She could have turned the music down, though ... My wife said it's likely more of a place for young people, not families, so maybe I was being unreasonable by asking her?

If you want the best Korean Friend Chicken, Eat @ bb.q chicken - so much better (it's...
